Sports man sports!

I stopped watching sports on TV and almost all other cable TV channels as well because regardless of the channel the logos and other on screen graphics overlays make pretty much anything on regular TV almost unwatchable. Throw in commercials on top and out of 30 minutes show it's only 12-17 minutes worth of show and the rest of it is just TV advertisement. This topic has been discussed ad nauseum but still I want to scream sometimes that I already know what channel I tuned my box to, no need to keep the reminder on. My 5 yo refuses to watch anything on TV and asks straight for Netflix. She gets to select what she wants and there are no logos, commercials and other BS.

Why not just have 200-300 channels of commercials ? And provide cable TV for free and those commercials channels will underwrite the cost of cable TV?

My plasma TV is strictly Netflix/Amazon, BD and downloaded content. Lower quality content is on a LCD upstairs.

Haha yeah I suppose, though i live for home theater, so having no money in the bank as a result was a trade off I was willing to make. And yeah, I really love the setup, very immersive, only drawback is I can't play movies quite as loud as I'd like to because of my neighbors.

LCD but will come along for the ride anyway..

Ok I’ll bite seeing we’ve got Dynaudios on show.
I do not have a dedicated AV receiver so I’m running my rears directly from the Blu-ray player to a Bryston BR60 integrated amp, although the rear contours could probably use more power but it works for now.
The LG PX950 was tweaked (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1372479) to lower the MLL which is now a few steps lower than my two brothers 50ST30 and 60ST30.



LG 50PX950 plasma (tweaked for better blacks), Bryston BP25P, 4B SST, & BCD-1, fronts Dynaudio Special 25 LE's on
Target HR60's, Velodyne SPL1500R, Velodyne SMS-1. Sony BDP S550, , Rega P3/2000/Sumiko Blue Point II/Target wall mount.

As I write this I’ve just been informed my youngest brother has his Integra DHC-80.1 for sale as he recently upgraded to the newer model, but it might be overkill for my setup.

Nice to see another Dynaudio owner. Love the Special 25's! but when I got to the Confidence series finally at my place so to speak and the Confidence Center has been incredible especially with blu-ray concerts.

I do not think that Integra outclasses anything of yours

A center channel would be nice, but then I would need the Integra and a single Special 25, and a........, the Confidence center might work though.

Don't miss the CRT at all, love the LG PX950 now that the black level is more than competitive after the tweaks, gray-scale and color is spot on, couldn't ask for more except a bigger set.

I should add that I'm extremely happy with my setup and watching movies is such a thrill. I know that the weak link is probably the sub but to be honest it works fine for me.

After seeing the nicely designed home theater on the first page (props to poster), i don't have that much to bring to the table.

Decided to go with a 2.1 set up for my apartment since i didn't want to run wires under the rug or running wires through the wall.

But here is my setup. I can never go back to using a flat screen TV for movies and gaming.

Home built screen: 90 inches (material bought from ebay, wood from lowes)

Projector: Optoma GT750 3D HD 1080p downsize to 720p. (Blacks are good, brightness is amazing because of short throw - even during the day when the sun is coming up).

Receiver: JVC 7030v 7.1 DTS/Prologic 2.

HDMI Splitter: Rocket Fish

Cable Box: BHN Cisco 8742 HDC

Remote: Logitech Harmony One

Amplifier: Technical Pro 1100 Watts (garbage amplifier, but still does justice)

Speakers: MTX Thunder Pro 2 Balanced XLR (Performance is amazing, bass output is superb).

Subwoofer: BIC Acoustech PL -200 (Bass is superb).

Router: BHN Motorola Surfboard SBG6580

Movie Viewing: I use either my xbox or ps3 (blu ray) and my Seagate Network Based external for storage of my movies.

Ive spent a decent amount of money during this build.

Ignore the Viet. Hat and the Pumpkin.
