Stuck between 59d8000 bundle and 65gt30

ok here is the deal at Pauls TV.

Samsung 59D8000 w/ 4pr 3d glasses and he will upgrade me the better 3D blu-ray player all bundled for 1999.00

or

Panasonic 65GT30 alone no bundle for 1999.00

pros/cons please. VERY new to hd/plasma. upgrading from a 27"crt with pretty purple blotches in the upper corners.

also since am out of state would be able to get pauls in home service plan for 279 for 5 years, and if you never use it they give you half of the price back in a credit.

have been reading/researching/confused/pulling my hair out for about a month and a half now trying to figure out what to get in the plasma world. I watch a lot of sports (nascar and football mostly, some hockey), and broadcast TV through ATT Uverse, and my kids play a LOT of MW3, Skyrim, etc on our 360.

My wife says to just make a damn decision already.lol..

Where are you seeing this price? I am on their website and the pn59d8000 bundle is listed for $2499.99.
I'd say go for the bundle and get the 3d blu ray player with the 4 glasses, actually i am searching for a deal on the exact same bundle.

it is an over the phone deal only because of region limitations. fortunately i live outside all their regions.

I took advantage of the same deal and only regret was that I didn't push my wife harder for the 64" model which I believe was only 300 or 400 more. Then again, I guess it's debatable if each extra inch would be worth ~$75/inch.

That being said, your decision will ultimately come down to your priorities. Mine was getting the extras (player/glasses) and the design. Not only are the 2011 Samsung's quite a bit lighter then the 2011 Panasonic's, but also thinner/smaller bezel/etc. and overall I prefer their design. I think the consensus is the Panasonic's offer better black levels, while the Samsung's offer some of the most accurate colors ever.

Of course, my decision would have been easier had Panasonic made a VT30 at 60" for ~$2000 or Pioneer never exited the TV business, but alas they didn't and I didn't want to sacrifice all the way down to 55" or spend a grand more for the 65" behemoth (which my wife also likely wouldn't have allowed to boot).

The Samsung was the sweet spot of everything (price/performance/size/design) and a fairly easy choice once accounting for the reduced price and bonuses. Of course I may wish I had held out for the 2012 60" E8000, I'm loving the TV thus far and convinced it's the best value all-around for 2011 TV's. Though if money was no object and wife allowed it, my ideal flat-panel would be a 65" VT30 or 60-70" Sharp Elite instead. Though next time I upgrade it sounds like I'll be an OLED owner (5-or-so years from now)...

Between those 2 choices go for the 59D8000

But the VT30 at 65 is an amazing tv. I love mine that just arrived

I also have the 59D7000

Did you mean to type D7000? If so, it's probably like $150 cheaper ($1850 I believe?) - at least it was when I ordered - but I guess the few bonuses of the D8000 aren't worthwhile to most; Web Browser, Claw Stand, Skype Compatbility, ARC, think that's it...

I meant to type 8000 but made a mistake. I have the 7000 and it is nice but I prefer my 65VT30
