Have an Epson 6100 that is a couple years old, not even 1000 hours on the bulb last I checked. 120" Elite Screens pull down and the PJ is ceiling mounted roughly 15ft away. Something that's always bothered me is the poor black level and contrast when watching movies - particularly those with a lot of dark material & shadows.
I've read about various screens and I'm still confused unfortunately. This is in a basement with no windows, but an open stairwell to the main level which does let some ambient light in. Also the ceiling is white, the carpet is brown, and the walls are deep red if that matters. I think what is happening is light from the PJ is bouncing off other surfaces and is washing out the image but am looking for some guidance!
