I dont know if there is a panel lottery with the EH series but every one I've tried on different stores show the very same issue and also a limited horizontal viewing angle, depending on the image it may appear 'brighter' or to have more contrast on its left and right sections of the screen and when you center your head to the edge it shows you the actual 'contrast' of the image.

The limited viewing angle is more annoying compared to the very rare instances that I notice ghosting.

I feel like the viewing angle on this TV is comparable or better than the $3,000 Samsung d7000 series TV I had at one point. Sub-optimal viewing angle and LCD's go hand and hand. You either go plasma and sacrifice brightness for better PQ and viewing angle, or get good brightness and decent PQ with not so great viewing angles in an LCD.

I've had this set for about a month and the shadows in the lower left and upper right corners have almost gone away, and the other two corners seem to be getting better so I wonder if this might be a break in issue.

The lighter contrast that people are seeing on the left and right side of the panel also exists on the top and bottom. I happened to see a scene where the entire panel was filled with a light gray overcast sky. I have a 55" set and the lighter contrast clearly formed about a 2" band around the entire outside portion of the panel. I figured this was just the outline of the LED back light array. That is the only time I noticed it on the top and bottom, but it is there. I notice the lightness on the left and right sides only against light backgrounds when the camera is panning across the screen, and even then it's very minor and I don't really notice it anymore. I never noticed it when the camera was still. With that said, I think it's a great TV and it doesn't take away any of the enjoyment of the picture for me.

I just did some research on this myself, (I just bought a 60" 6000 series) and was curious about the differences. According to Samsung's website:

-6000 series has a larger contrast ratio (5,000,000:1 vs 4,500,000:1)

-6050 has Dolby Digital Plus/Pulse (not sure how this makes a difference coming from the TV speakers, or how it works at all, maybe someone can clarify? Mine is hooked up through an AV system...coincidently also a Samsung)

-As stated above, the casing color is dark reddish, hard to tell in pictures though (My old 2008 Samsung had TOC red, I guess it's kind of like this).

-And last, the "Specs" page on Samsung's website has a few minor differences, like showing codecs listed for the 6000 series and not the 6050; also listed is "Typical power consumption" for the 6000 (70w) but it's not on the 6050 Page.

I am very happy with the TV, It's an upgrade for me from my old Samsung TOC 2008/2009 model (LN40A650) which was an awesome TV (although Using my PC or Mac on it though the HDMI ports looked like crap, when I did that I used the PC port).

Checked out the 60" at BB last night. Popped in my USB which had a 720p episode of Band of Brothers and an average quality hockey game on it.

Band of brothers looked good, except for the awful SOE that I couldn't get rid of in the menus. Tried setting AMP to off, and also to custom (0) and I still got SOE. I noticed some people here stating that they got rid of it completely. Is there anything settings-wise that I missed?

Then I tried the hockey game. That was an even worse experience. This is my first time seriously looking at an LCD (I'm coming off a Sammy plasma), so I'm not sure what all the terms are yet, but basically the players and especially the puck had trails behind them (ghosting??). The puck looked like it was flashing rapidly when moving around the screen. Granted, the actual source was rather poor and is just a random game I downloaded off the web, so that's probably why the image/motion was so bad. I'm gonna try going again with a better source this time and see if there are any improvements, but I'd like to know how hockey/sports fans are enjoying this set.

Other than that the image quality looked great on whatever was their own demo Bluray. Great blacks and adequate brightness.

I'm a big hockey fan and have no issues watching hockey with this TV. Much more enjoyable experience compared to a plasma too, IMO. I like having white ice instead of gray ice. You want to set auto motion to clear, not off.

Thanks, that's re-assuring since bad hockey is what turned me away from another plasma (Panny ST50). That and SOE are deal breakers for me, so I'll try again at BB before deciding.

Then that proves there is panel lottery on this TV.

Anyone having any random issues with the sound cutting out and the picture flickering near the bottom for a couple seconds?

Just I got the UN60EH6050F for Costco .

There are any settings to clear the motion for the live sport like basketball
Always I see a ghost and is very grainy

This TV has the worst picture when I am watching basketball; the picture is not sharp and is very grainy
I am using a high definition box for my cable company cox communications
When the game does not have a fast move the picture is ok but when they speed the ball the picture is really bad

Should I return this TV and buy a plasma TV instead?

they have a patch for that issue

There is no new firmware for the 'auto motion plus won't stay off' issue for the UNEH6050 as of this posting. Only the Mar 20 firmware (original that shipped with my TV) is there. I've decided to return this TV to Costco and purchase a different brand, as I'm 90% sure that Samsung won't fix this until we're out of the 90 day return window.

UN55EH6000FXZC anyone have the white points settings i have a beautiful picture so far but like to get it at tops thankz.. Great tv by the way better than the LG 55LV4400 i had picked up returned it in 5 days not happy at all, this one kicks ass...

Looking to pick this one up tonight, but have a quick question... will be running a PC to this and am concerned about the audio portion. The video is DVI->HDMI, however I do not see an Audio input jack on this TV. Would it be possible to assign an audio input from the Red / White RCA cable to the HDMI (PC) Mode or this needs to be forced through a secondary processing unit (Soundbar / Receiver)...

Hey, thanks for the pic... I am still unsure though if I could do it. In the worst case scenario, I can get a soundbar for the house... got the TV anyhow. Lets see if anybody can come up with some good settings for it.

Are these settings from using a calibrator?

... are all big no no's in the world of tv calibration.

no just my settings,,,,just passing these on they look good so if anyone wants they can use them there not from a calibrator,,,from my personal settings..

You'd probably have more uniform contrast if you set dynamic contrast to medium and turn black tone off.

Has anyone done a real CRT test to determine the actual input lag on this set? I am really interested in purchasing this TV but I am hesitant to pull the trigger unless the input lag is at most 16ms.

i havent had any problems with this set so far motion clear runs great hockey looks amazing fast scenes dont jidder so far runs great made some more color tweaks and all i have to say it runs great its a fat babe but it hasnt let me down so far i dont know about this lag thinggy,,,but i made a great investment for my part...

Which models have better PQ D6xxx or ES6xxx or EH6xxx? I would like to buy 55inch TV and there is a big money difference.

- Samsung UN55ES6100 is $1,579.99

- Samsung UN55D6000 is $1,259.00

- Samsung UN55EH6000 is $909.93

Any recommendations or suggestions will be welcome.

My Panasonic 42 inch Plasma TH-42PD50U went out of service yesterday and I am looking for a Samsung 46" LED or LCD to replace it. Can anybody point to any good wwebpages or other sources to help me select which 46 inch Samsung LED or LCD would be a good choice for me?
