No clue if it's like this for every set, or just mine.

I might try this when I get home, but am a little scared of entering the service menu. Can you tell a big difference?

will this also keep the backlight from dimming on all-black screens? I use Movie mode so the dimming present in Standard mode is a non-issue to me.

New forum member wink.gif We just purchased a new (to us) house, and I ordered up a UN55EH6000 from Best Buy on sale. Hoping to hang it on the wall, and currently bouncing around the forums trying to figure out how to setup my component stuff and surround sound. Love the look of a wall mounted tv, and like the idea of having AV stuff on a stand in the corner of the room...but not sure what to do with my center channel and front speakers frown.gif

Editing my post... Here is how to get to the menu. This worked on my 55" 6050 from Costco.

Note, you will loose all settings you have setup on the TV when you do this procedure. I take no responsibility for anything else you change in the settings within the service menu.

Turn your TV off.
On the factory remote press in rapid succession: Mute, 1, 8, 2, Power
Select Option, then Factory Reset.
Again, press in rapid succession: Mute, 1, 8, 2, Power
This time highlight "advanced" Press 0, 0, 0, 0... Not too fast.
Select Adjust
Select Dynamic Dimming, and press left or right to change to off.
Turn your TV off

You are finished!

What happens if you press 0000 too fast when highlighting Advanced? Nothing?

I can't get this to work on my UN46EH6030FXZA. All I can get is two grayed out options under Advanced: Picture_2D and Picture_3D.

(and I can get those two options with or without following the procedure detailed above)

ok, since the two grayed out options appear when I press 0000, I can safely assume I pressed it slowly enough

the EH6030 (and EH5300 and EH6070) do have a different menu from the EH5000 and EH6000 (both in the user menu and in the service menu... these Smart/3D EH series models use menus like the pricier edgelit ES series models

...perhaps someone on those threads for ES series models has found a way into the advanced portion of the SM, which is possibly different from the approach shown here for the EH5000 and EH6000

Hi everyone,

My parents are considering buying either the 40" or 46" model but they want to use a Bose Solo soundbar as a pedestal and the Bose unit can only support a stand up to 20" wide. Could one of you do me a favor and measure the width of the stand? I know the stand is 9" deep but I can't find a measurement for the width anywhere. I would go to a B&M store to measure it myself but I can't find any with stock anywhere near me. If anyone could help me out with a quick measurement, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

My 40EH5000 stand is 20.25 inches wide.

Some of the models have different shaped stands (circular vs square), so just double check whichever one you are looking at.

Thanks to you both for the quick replies! The stand appears to be rectangular, at least in the photos and press materials on Samsung's site. Again, thanks for the help.

Hey guys,

Bought this TV for my in-laws, love how it looks so far. We did notice a strange issue with the picture in a small 1" x 1" area at the bottom middle of the screen. It almost looks like a thumb print indentation or something. Tends to be most noticeable with darker grays, don't see it with black. Colors come through, they are just off, so there are no dead pixels or anything.

We didn't notice for about a month after installation, so I don't think its something we did physically when mounting, but that is possible.

I'm just curious if this is a known defect with the TV or if anyone has heard of something similar to this. Thanks!

More info on the audio sync problem:

[Audio becomes delayed over time while using the internal tuner - fixed temporarily by turning the TV off/on or switching channels up/down]

I opened a trouble ticket and Samsung sent a service guy to my house. He wanted to swap the main logic board in the TV. He told me that others have complained of this issue and swapping the board is what they do. He did not know if this has ever fixed the problem for anyone. I let him do the swap but it made no difference. I am still having audio sync problems.

I ran some tests to demonstrate the problem conclusively. I have the same OTA antenna hooked up to both my Samsung TV (UN55EH6030) and an external Samsung OTA tuner (DTB-H260F). I have the optical audio from both the TV and the external tuner connected to my receiver and surround sound speakers. I have the TV set up to use the internal speakers with the volume turned down (which does not disable the SPDIF output).

When I noticed the audio was out of sync I turned up the volume on the internal speakers. I could not detect a difference between the sound coming from the TV and the sound coming from my surround sound system. Both were equally out of sync. Then I switched the input on my receiver so the sound was coming from the external tuner. This time there was an obvious difference in the audio signals. There was a dramatic echo effect as my surround sound system played the audio in sync while the TV's internal speakers played the same audio out of sync (delayed).

IIRC the menu on mine (a 6000) has an audio delay menu somewhere. (ETA: it's under the sound/SPDIF menu.) I realize it's drifting for you but have you got one and tried to use it (and maybe adjust your receiver settings too)?

This seems like the kind of thing Samsung could fix in firmware, although I haven't noticed it for whatever reason. Don't use the HD tuner much etc.

I searched the thread but couldn't find this info:

Can anyone tell me the distance between the center of the bottom mounting holes and the bottom of the unit? I need to try to calculate whether the arms of a mount bracket will clear a short barrier between the TV and the wall.

Thanks.

I tried it again carefully just to be 100% sure, but it still doesn't work on the EH6030.

Yeah, there is an audio delay setting.

1) As you noticed from my original post, the sync changes over time so it cannot be fixed with a constant offset.
2) The audio delay setting applies only to the external speaker while the sync problem affects both internal/external.
3) The audio is late so adding a delay will only make it worse.

audio_sync.zip 166k .zip file

I have attached an audio clip that demonstrates the problem. You can hear what sounds like an echo. It is actually two audio streams playing simultaneously. The first one is playing through my stereo (audio source is an external OTA tuner). The second one is playing through the TV speakers (audio source is the internal OTA tuner). You can clearly hear the delay that causes the lip sync issue. I looked at this clip with a sound editor and the delay is around 400ms which is very high.

Hoping someone can answer 2 issues I'm running into on my tv. First one is the auto off feature doesn't seem to work? I have it set to turn off after 15min if no signal is detected. If I turn my DVR off and leave tv on it doesn't turn off after 15mins. Last issue is sometimes when I'm fast forwarding my DVR right before the show comes back on th tv will say no signal and go blank. It will be 30 seconds into the show once the tv comes back on and ill have to rewind it back.

some devices like cable/satelite STBs and DVRs will still output a blank signal when off/in standby... check to see whether the TV says 'no signal' when the DVR is off/in standby

if it doesn't say no signal, then the TV thinks it's still getting a picture (albeit it a blank/black screen)

I'm hoping someone can help me, I've just purchased a UA55EH6000M and no matter what settings i try it seems like things are still blurry/pixelated.

It wasn't noticeable at first but after a while I started noticing that there arent really any smooth lines, as an example if I'm watching the news then the faces of anyone in the background just lack detail and blend into a blur. It also appears like people are standing behind dirty glass some of the time.

Is my set faulty? Or have i just got something set up wrong?

However, my biggest concern as mentioned in previous posts is how limited the off angle window is on this set. I've noticed the problem is really dark scenes such as the ending battle in Skyfall-any slight movement on my couch results in a greenish tint on flesh tones, blacks also begin to wash out. From reading posts it appears that this problem may be alleviated with calibration to a certain point. I'm wondering how others are coping with this problem. Have you returned the set? Have you contacted samsung? Could a future firmware update fix this problem? My 30 day return window already passed so I have contacted PC Richards warranty department to have it serviced. I'm curious to see what the technician will have to say or recommend.

Hello, I wanted to update the AVS community on the recent development of my personal issue. The retail company I purchased the company from has kindly offered to exchange the TV for another model. Given the bad experience I had with an LED, I am very wary of LEDs in general. The off angle issue was a deal breaker for me. Fortunately I have another crack at it. Since off angle PQ and sports are a big deal for I believe the best option for me is plasma. I would appreciate the community's input during this process. Thanks!

How about this TV?

So apparently the UNEH6030 is NOT a 120hz set. There is no Auto Motion Plus setting in the Menu. The UNXXFH6030 is indeed a 120hz set, as I found out by looking in the manual for my set. I've looked online and I think the labels are mixed up. Retailers are labeling the EH6030 as a 120 hz set and the FH as a 60hz set, but it should be the other way around. Just letting you all know. I'm pretty happy with my screen though.

actually the EH6030 is 120Hz, but without AMP (which is why it's labeled as a 60Hz panel in the service menu)... it's kind of a special case

There's no need for that. Menu-->Support-->Contact Samsung-->Arrow Down. On mine it displays Model, Firmware and Serial #.
