Just keep in mind that if CNET reviewed the 2011 model with an SQ02 panel they were reviewing an S-PVA, while in CNET's EH6000 review they mention "off-angle viewing was among the worst in the lineup" > very likely it wasn't an S-PVA panel in their EH6000 review.

So CNET could have vary well measured blacks twice as deep on the 2011 review, but If you actually compared them when both had S-PVA panels they would probably measure much closer.

Finally picked up my 60EH6000 tonight. I turned off all the extra processing and am using backlight 12 and brightness 45, color 40, warm1, sharpness 16. Still playing around.

First off, it's so amazing to have no edge bleed/ flashlighting. That stuff bothers me more than anything. I'm loving the blacks as well, so much better compared to the LG 7600.

I do have Uverse, which is like the worst compression you can get for cable, so PQ looks a little worse than the 55" LG 7600 I had before.

So far I watched parts of Black Swan, Another Earth, and Horrible Bosses on HBO. Also the new episode of New Girl, some Storage Wars, and Boardboard Empire.

Boardwalk Empire is the only thing I've watched so far where I noticed pretty bad purple tinges on motion, like scenes where someone wearing a black/dark suit walks across the shot with a light background. I noticed the purple tinge (it's like on the edge of things) quite a few times on this show, but haven't really noticed it on anything else yet. Is this odd?

My second gripe is motion in general, things could be smoother, less jittery, I'm still experimenting with the Motion Flow stuff but haven't found the best setting yet.

Yes, HS01. How does the HS01 stand up to the other panel types?

P.S. my software version says T-MX9FAUSC-1016.0 and the most recent on Samsung's website says 1012.3

Hello! Longtime no post.

I just got the 65EH6000 last Monday. I am coming from a 62HM196 Toshiba 62 DLP and there is a definite difference. Blacks are better, slightly crisper image. Overall quite a good improvement. Uniformity seems like a big step up - especially on dark screens. The few "glowy" parts I had (bottom center primarily and some more slight glowing in the upper left), were almost completely gone after a gentle massage with a microfiber cloth and a couple days of use.

The ONLY issue I am struggling with is viewing angles, as others are apparently discussing. I am at 9.5' from the TV sitting directly in front of it, and I can literally LEAN in either direction and see fading - significantly so. When I go from sitting in the middle to laying on the couch with my head to one side - it's obvious.

I am guessing if I had a bigger room it would be less of an issue, because the "sweet spot" would be wider further back. As it is, I am tempted to bump up the color and contrast a bit to compensate for viewing off angle. We used to have 8 people in here playing Rock Band on my big TV. I guess those days are over - or at least without comments about my TV being faded...

Is this just something I have to get used to?

Version No: MH01

Figures... does the Hxxx panel have any pros compared to the other panels or is it too hard to say?

Thanks.

I'm now deciding whether I should use this opportunity to upgrade to the UN46EH6000 instead of just picking up another UN46EH5000. Of course, I'm only looking at Txxx panels (Samsung S-PVA). Is the picture noticeably clearer on the EH6000 with fast moving scenes and how does the PQ compare in general? Has anyone here had both the EH5000 and EH6000 and which do you prefer and why?

I've never had the EH5000 but had the 6000. I liked the motion resolution on the EH6000. Did not see any noticable blur. It all depends on what you like though. I put my AMP settings on smooth as I don't mind the S.O.E. As far as PQ goes I think it might be about the same as the 5000, maybe a tad better. I did not like the PQ on the EH6000 for many reasons. 1. Purple/Violet tinge on everything grey, white, and black. 2. Yellows did not look right at all. 3. Discolored vertical sections on left and right side. 4. reddish skin-tones
Alot of people like their set and you shouldn't base your decision on my observations. They still have the EH6000 on display at Best Buy. Check it out and see how looks for you.

It's too bad you can't find the D630. It has better PQ than the EH6000 by far but does have some juddering issues that you might not like. It's not too bad and seems to do it only on a handful of channels but it is somewhat distracting when it happens (only happens on fast moving and panning scenes). I've had my D630 for a week and I'm still trying to figure out the best settings to get rid of the judder/stuttering. I was told by a Best Buy Store Manager that even though they don't currently sell the LNxxD630 they can still order one. Takes about 7-10 days. Check their website and see if it's still available to order online.

Need a little help from those with experience purchasing from Amazon. I purchased a 60" EH6000 off of Amazon on Tuesday morning, I had debated going 65" but the 65 was from a contracted company and the 60" was from Amazon with the schedule delivery and free shipping option as I am a PRIME member. Scheduled the delivery for today, Friday, took the day off work and was anxiously awaiting my 9 AM appointment to have the television delivered. I got an email from Amazon at 4 AM day of delivery saying that the item has not been shipped and may be delayed. Keep in mind when I ordered on Tuesday they had 12 left in stock. I monitored the price and quantity throughout the day and Amazon had sold out of its allotment by that evening and it was now being sold through third party vendors. I was thankful I purchased my order when I did! However, it looks like I will not be getting my TV on the scheduled delivery day, took a day off work, and was only advised of this delay 5 hours prior to delivery. Has anyone had similar experiences? Anything that can be done?

Thank you for the help/advice. I am just blowing off steam but looks like this is going to cost me an additional vacation day to have the TV delivered.

I will be unboxing and setting it up in the evening and fully calibrating it tomorrow. I opted for it over getting another 5000 series because setting AMP to Custom with Blur Reduction at 10 and Judder Reduction at 0 on the store display model really improved motion without any SOE (this being true even though the source feed was pretty mediocre). I didn't bother with LED Motion Plus, but I might turn it ON on my actual set if I can get enough light output with it on (30 fL to 35 fL is good for my viewing environment, which is dim to dark). I just hope there are no dead/stuck pixels or flashlighting/clouding/bright spots. I am expecting some vertical banding, though, something which all Samsung S-PVA panels have to some extent.

You won't have to worry about flashlighting/clouding/bright spots on the EH6000. Does have the vertical discolored sections on the left/right of the screen. Not really that much of an issue though. Enjoy your set.

Do you notice any trailing/smearing on dark or high contrast areas/objects in games or movies?

I think they are like this > http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Samsung-LCD-TV-pedestal-stand-fixing-screws-set-of-4-/330791973824?pt=UK_Home_Garden_LivingRoom_TV_Furniture&hash=item4d04bcf3c0

Not sure what size they are though...

Couple of things. First, very new build date and newer firmware than Samsung has for download now. Just saying.

Second, would you mind providing some links for someone like me who might want to use the same tools as you for calibrating? My set looks good now but I'd enjoy making it even better. Thanks.

MY TV TURNS ITSELF ON AFTER I TURN IT OFF!!! Pulled the trigger on a UN60EH6050F. Set it up 3 hours ago and i loved the tv!!! i came from a 55NX720 Bravia. So i took it out, set it up, played with it for 3 hours, fell in love with it, and when i went to shut it off it immediately turned back on. It does not cycle on and off!!! Its only when i hit the power button on the remote or the TV. otherwise it just stays on as it should. But none of the settings are being saved. All the calibrations i made are set back to default as soon as it turns itself back on frown.gif If i unplug it it obviously shuts down but as soon as i plug it back in it turns itself on!!!! I checked all the settings, i did a reset to default and i upgraded the firmware from 1011.1 to 1012.3 but no luck. I also took the batteries from the remote and no such luck either. I bought the tv from a costco supplier for $900 New in box. He gave me a reciept and told me i have a 30 day warranty with him but i havent called him cause its almost 3 am LOL. but i will call him tomorrow. Anyway what do you guys think. I love the tv but this issue is killing me!!! Thanks and i love this forum

Thanks for the post. I just recently picked up the un46eh6000 to replace an older 720p 37 inch Panasonic Plasma. I calibrated the Samsung using the DVE HD Basics test patterns. The result looks much better than the default settings. I'm very happy with the picture quality. I'm by no means an expert in the area of calibrations, and am unsure about some of the settings (see below). However, the result after calibration looks very good to me.

btw....I used HDMI #2 port. Not sure if using this vs HDMI/DVI #1 makes a difference?

settings I used:
Mode: movie
Backlight-16 (I'm not sure about this setting. 16 is just a random guess)
Contrast-98 (I used your 98 setting and my calibration shows that it worked fine for me. Seem's very high though. My Samsung 50 inch plasma is 78)
Brightness-43
Sharpness-22 (I tried 6, but the test pattern seemed blurry. 22 sharpened up the test pattern without adding any false edges, etc....looked natural)
color-48
Tint G50/r50
Advanced settings::
colorspace -auto (Not sure what this setting does)
White Balance: (left at default...not sure how to assess whether or not adjustment is needed).

Returned my set and got my money back...went to Best Buy and picked up an open box UN60EH6000 (no crappy costco model smile.gif jk). It was returned because the previous owner couldnt fit it anywhere in his house LOL. So got it for 1199.99!!!!! This set is awesome...to me it looks better than my previous KDL55NX720!!! andiseem to prefer the thin bezel over the monolithic design. The only thing ive noticed is the slight purple ghosting but it is minimal. I have graet uniformity and no banding. Im using Btaylors settings with Dogghouses white balance.

HS01...is this good or bad??

Have you tryed any video games yet with the brightness set from anywhere from 0-50 and noticed any smearing on dark objects when panning the camera?
I think i saw some vertical or digital or backlight? banding on a grey sky in the in the infamous 2 demo on the ps3.

My brightness is set to 22, my input is an xbox360s and i played minecraft, max payne 3, halo reach, hitman absolution sniper challenge,, streamed some hd episodes of vampire diaries, my little pony, and a 1080p avi of batman begins. From all this all i could really notice was the very very slihht purple trailing during minecraft and vampire diaries...very rarely while playing max payne 3. During the xbox360 logo on startup i dont see any banding whatsoever neither on the hitman absolution logo screen which is just a blood red screen with the words hitman on it in the middle.

OK I just noticed this frown.gif

20121003_140721.jpg

is this bad or normal for my panel...it gets worse if i set my xbox to standard and the tvs black level to low frown.gif I noticed it an hour ago when i popped in mw3. Its visible on the netflix logo screen, and any type of grey shades and earth and skin tones just slightly. And then theres the top inch or so down wich always remains slightly or more darker. Did i get another bad set?? should i haul it back to Best buy (3 hour drive for me) or should i go through samsung warranty??? starting to fall out of love with this thing...dammit frown.gif
post #685 of 2545
in case you cant see it (which i doubt) its the horizontal banding...but the top inch is darker >frown.gif

Well my luck with samsung tvs is ****! LOL at least their warranty and customer service is cool. I just found out i have a Samsung Authorized repair shop in a 7 min walking distance from my apartment. So i walked down there, showed him the pics and he told me that my panel is definitely faulty. I took my reciept from BB with me we were 15 min on the phone with samsung customer service and i got my service ticket already...the only weird thing is that my warranty on the ticket says im covered parts and labor till 2014!! even though my reciept says 10/1/2012 LOL

I'm getting the 60" version delivered tomorrow. I know several people have posted their settings in this thread. I really do apologize but this is not an area of expertise for me. Can someone recommend me the best settings for a naturally well lit room? Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys.
