Pioneer VSX-521 or Yamaha RX-V371 for bedroom?

I'm looking at purchasing a receiver for our bedroom and have been looking at these two. I will most likely use it as only a 3.1 setup. It will be hooked up to a Toshiba 42" Regza LCD tv, DirectTV box, and a Toshiba bluray player. My wife likes to listen to music while she's upstairs so I figured I would just get an AV receiver instead of just a stereo one.

Forgot to mention I can get them for the same price.

If I'm not mistaken, the 521 has room correction whereas the 371 does not.

Would room correction make much of a difference in a 3.1 setup?

Started looking into both of these more and it doesn't look like either offer HDMI video through when the receiver is off.

I guess I could always run HDMI to the TV and then optical to the receiver. That way I wouldn't have to have the receiver on if we wanted to watch TV without the receiver.
