Speaking of: would love to get together with you guys to test drive this one!

This happened to me at first but I tried again and I played a few matches.

Not sure if this will change but I hate 3rd person games. Seem liked mostly everyone sat behind a wall in cover while positioning the camera so they can see around the corner, wait for the enemy and then shoot. You can position your on screen crosshairs to have that perfect shot once you come popping out of cover. Besides this I enjoyed the game, even though it did feel like GoW with holding A to sprint and for cover. Will play more this weekend.

might be the difference between "valued uplay customers" and those who bought splinter cell conviction.

myself, I bought conviction, played through 800-900 gamerscore, then sold it to a friend. I didn't get the email so I contacted them and they said I could just stick my conviction disc in my 360 and access the beta that way.... obviously I can't do that since I dont have conviction anymore.

Don't worry about it, because I can't even get in a game. Tried all last night, and even this morning with no luck.

here's my impressions of playing it online last night... keep in mind I was a total n00b and there's nothing in the game to get your bearings... I didn't know the maps, there were objectives that I didn't know what to do to accomplish them, etc.

I don't think it's a 60 fps game anymore. It felt like 30 fps.

The graphics are really nice. The shaky cam effects are well done, the characters are well animated. Performance was really good.

The controls are easy to get into. Moving into and out of cover was easy like Gears. Shooting was pretty good.

It has a cool effect of doing an instant replay from your killer's perspective so you know how you died.

I wish there was a mini tutorial or brief single player section so I could familiarize myself a bit more. But it is a multiplayer beta...

Really disappointed to hear that.

Wow. This game is bad... Like, bad bad. Campaign might be fun but multiplayer is a complete disaster. Oh well, thankfully the beta saved me $60.
Some of the concepts of the game area really neat. Weapon editor in such detail is a cool idea. The cover system is neat. Multiple objective rounds is also a interesting idea.

All that being said... wow.. It's a mess. Frame rate looks horrendous. Map detail and layout look to be an afterthought. The sound is by far some of the worst I've heard.

Shame. Was hoping this would be a serious game.

Is this even made by the same team that did GRAW?
Yes made by same people who have done all the GRs and R6 games.

To each his own but I love it. Granted it's not like the older GRs it's a blend of GR and Faster Gameplay but with the game mode on beta now (sabotage comes out thurs on beta so you'll have two gamemodes) you still have to work as a team, or you'll never win. If you aren't playing as a team and other team is... you get destroyed.

Can't wait for pc version though with pc specific graphic features

yeah, it's been a big problem for me not being in game chat because the last few nights have been all party chat and not being able to hear other people in the game really hurts. and it's also hard to play when you're trying to carry multiple party conversations.

people are also playing it like it's a deathmatch mode.

I really think some of these people are completely embellishing as it's not "horrendous" or "bad bad" or "a complete disaster".

I like it, I;m going to pick it up now I think.
Maybe we should get an AVS team some of us can really see whats it like, if its possible. So far for me I havent enjoyed it, mainly due to the 3rd person, and I have had this game on preorder since 2010.

A thing you have to think about with the GR series. While it's "3rd" person it isn't "true" 3rd person for example like GoW series is. Your character is always following where the reticle is, in GR it's not.

Example: GR 1 just had a reticle on the screen and that was it. GR2 it was the SAME reticle just you could see a body. Then in GRAW 1 and 2 (xbox only, not pc because pc was true 1st person with a gun) it was the same thing.

example 2: It's not true third person because you can completely turn and be running backwards like your guy is running to you, but your reticle is still facing behind your character's back . You have not turned the reticle in front of your character yet. If you fire, your character will twist and shoot behind his back while he is still turned around walking toward you. This is exactly how all the GR games have been. I hope me explaining this over text makes sense haha. You'll also notice the reticle is often in a different spot when you are aiming compared to where the gun is facing unless you pull left trigger for over the shoulder zoom.

So yes it's third person, but only to show you something on the screen. The reticle is still the same from every GR. That's why clicking down on left thumbstick moves your character from left to right side so you can still see where you aiming without having the character block your view. So it's more of a hybrid 1st/3rd person essentially. It just has a 3rd person camera angle

I have no idea where this anti-3rd person is coming from. I loved it in Gears and it works here as well.

Why do they keep spitting out GR and not R6? And I won't play if it's not 60fps. 30fps is garbage in this day and age. We should be bored with 60fps by now and moving onto 120fps for fast action games. I wish you could download APPS for the 360 like you can on phones. I'd really love to have an app that shows fps in games along with my internet connection to the Live servers.

Consoles are so UNDERPOWERED good luck with that 60fps. very few games do it. Only ones that do it are a sub Hd resolution (yes cod does 60fps but it is not hd it is upscaled to an hd resolution.) and 120? it will never happen because of screen tearing because we don't have true 120hz tvs, just monitors and theres the hdmi limitation... only dvi dual link and display port can do 120hz
post #52 of 183
I'd gladly give up a few lines of resolution and general fidelity for 60fps any day...

I wonder what happened that they rolled back on their plans to do 60fps.

In COD, while the 60 fps action is stunning, it gets there through a number of shortcuts, especially by using flat lighting. Compare that game to something like the Sandbar map in the 30 fps Gears of War 3 and there's no comparison in beauty. You look at the beautiful HDR lighting in games like Halo and COD pales in comparison.

Today's consoles aren't powerful enough to deliver the eye candy at 60 fps.

I can't say I'm really paying attention to the eye candy in the heat of battle. It's unfortunate we're still stuck with 2005 tech. Although given that 30fps is a deliberate choice they make, I wonder how often we'll see 60fps next gen anyway.

I think my biggest gripe with 3rd person cameras is how the cover system works with it. If I go against a wall then the camera should not be able to see around the corner since the guy I am controlling cant. He can be a foot off the corner and you can move the camera to see whats around it without the person actually doing it. Also when covering behind a barrier he is facing the ground and thats all I should be seeing. Not everything above me. If they have the cover system then remove the reticule so you cant pop up with that perfect shot to the head. Maybe Ive been playing COD/BF for to long but my Ghost Recon series has always been my favorite and it just seems the games Ive been playing with this beta most of the players sit in a corner waiting for someone and they pop out shooting with perfect aim. Just my .02
post #56 of 183
Would any of you guys happen to have an extra beta key I could have?
I knew once they went with the unreal physics it will play like gears of war...its cool tho, something a little different" however it will get old VERY VERY fast, maybe RB6 will be better SMH' I hope this beta is a very old beta or shame on UBISOFT
post #58 of 183
this gen's GR and R6 all have been on unreal engine.
so in other words, all were seeing is a modern day military version of gears of war?
lol thats like saying we are playing a modern day Unreal Tournament then.

Just cause it's unreal engine doesn't mean it's gears!

Mass effect series is another unreal engine game and it sure ain't gow lol
