Yeah I will listen to Q900's, great speakers in my budget. should I buy Q30's or Q40's instead ?

The new Q series consisting of Q100, Q300, Q500, Q900, Q200C & Q600c are a complete departure from the old Q series.

All of the above have received postive feedback professional & end user combined. Most notable being the Q300 & Q900.

I have a 5.0 setup of Q900 + Q600C & Q300 that I use as surrounds. I have yet to hook up the rears but I am running the fronts for the cheap thrill of it so far in the 2 movies I have seen they appear like a giant wall of sound in the front. If you go with the Q900 do not buy the older series as they will not be timbre matched.

Funny you should say this. I auditioned a set of Excite X16 last week and felt they were rather analytical in their delivery. Of the Dynaudios I listened to that day, I preferred the sound of their cheapest DM2/6 speakers the most!

Just goes to show that you can't rely solely on magazine reviews and hype and such and that you need to listen to a speaker for yourself before buying one.

Well the only thing I can do to help you cross something off the list would be to say with the amount if music you plan to listen to I would cross the def techs off the list. But again I will state speaker listening is very subjective. I personally have also found all klipsch speakers to be too harsh to me as well but haven't heard the rf7ii.
I was the same way with Klipsch. Heard they were bright and hard to listen too. A friend of mine has a set of 83s first gen. And I went and listened to his HT and I went and ordered the IIs which have different crossovers/drivers and we can listen all day to music and movies no strain. In fact we do.

If choosing off that list I'd go with the Philharmonic 1's or 2's, Salk SongTower's or Kef Q900's.

You might try to give Jim Salk a call and see if there are Salk owners in the Cleveland area who might let you have a listen. I see this recommended often to those who are curious.

Good luck!

I will shoot a message or call Jim.

I had word with "Dennis Murphy" and he thinks Phil 2's can be big for my space and I think that too looking at the demensions. I cannot place them 2 feet from back wall as of now but I think I have to re-arrange my furniture now, as I am already thinkg after talking to Dennis .

So Kef 900's, Phil and Salk ST are the ones I guess. Can I lock it guys

Thanks.

There's a thread somewhere on 4311 deals and a number to call Electronics Expo to ask for best price.

Just wanted to pop in over here (via the WAC GTG thread) and throw in my hearty endorsement for the Totem HAWK. Can't speak for the other Totems, but the HAWK is an amazing speaker... hands down one of my favorites. If you can find a pair used they are a bargain. Nice video review of them posted over in GTG thread. In my somewhat extensive search it was between the Hawks and the SongTowers within my original budget, both outstanding for the money.. I ultimately shattered that budget and went a little bigger... but that's me. If you haven't done so already scan through my "Speakerquest" and Nuance's "journey" thread (links are in our sigs). Lots of good info there about speakers in the price range you seem to be looking, from many different people and manufacturers (though some of it may be getting a little out of date now, much of it is still relevant).

In addition to the Philharmonics (haven't heard them, but a good choice I think), I would also be looking at the Sierra Towers... If I were buying right now.

Good luck

Congrats on a great system!

Denon 3313 = $750

KEF Q900 (2) + Q600 + Q300 (2) = $2250

One of the best 5.0 system package I've seen for $3K!

With a sub or two, it will be awesome.
