Do you game on your projector?

I do, via XBox 360 - no noticeable input lag to me anyway - I play on the projector maybe once every couple weeks, not as often as on the TV in the living room - playing on the big screen is harder for some reason, whether its due to your eyes having to over more territory, or seating position, not sure. That's for FPS games like Black Ops or MW3. For more immersive games, fantasy, I imagine it would be fine - need to try Mass Effect in there.

I game at least 2-3 times a week on my HD33 and even with all the pure motion and pure detail settings off I do notice a little bit of lag in MW3. It is not horrid and doesn't take away from the fact I'm playing in a 100" screen. With pure motion on the lowest setting there is a very noticeable lag that makes the game very difficult to play.

My projector is meant more for games than for movies....of course I tend to only use it for movies since I'm screwed up that way. GT750e.

Supposedly it has 0 lag, I haven't noticed any.

Like the above poster, I find it more difficult and tiring. Having to scan a larger viewing area just tires out my eyes, plus playing in the dark just exacerbates this. I prefer playing on my plasma with the lights on.

Yes,,, Yes you do. First time I popped the first Mass Effect in was with my mitsubishi 720p projector 90" screen and it was jaw dropping!

I game almost every night with my PS3. I have an Epson 8500UB and I'm blaming my poor skills on lag so I'm gonna' buy the 8350 for strictly gaming. I hear it's one of the better projectors for gaming (18 ms delay I think I read)

I did it for a while, but I would literally get motion sickness playing first person shooters. It's too immersive, to the point my brain thinks my body should actually be moving when it's not, and I get queasy. I could sit further back and null the effect but then what's the point? Switched back to my flat panel to spare my bulb.

I love playing on my viewsonic pro8200 video games. If I'm playing alone I have to have smaller screen size , around 80 inches and be back about 7-9 feet, if at the 4-5 feet back from screen it's too overwhelming.

I agree with some of the others, most of the time I'm using my 42 inch HDTV for online gaming.

Then you make the picture 120 inches and each player gets a good size screen. The Viewsonic pro8200 is super gaming machine, don't notice any lag, it's portable, it has 20 watt speakers (10x2), bright, good in semi-light conditions and excellent at night on good screen.

I'm mostly using my pro8200 for movies and split screen with friends. Picked up the pro8200 for around 650 at end of Dec from newegg. Cheap and good 1080p portable for gaming.

Oh forgot to mention, I played DJ Hero in the HT with my son and neices when family came over last weekend, that was a lot of fun.

I did get motion sick for a bit....till I got used to it. I use a 153" display for COD and it's awesome!

My PJ is used for gaming ~1 to 3hrs a day, and when it isn't gaming, it's surfing the web or watching TV/porn.

Got the old MS steering wheel and often play Foza 4 on my HD3300. I have an anamorphic lens and play it in cinemascope ~143" image. It's insane. 3D games on the PS3 are also absolutely incredible (especially Uncharted 3).

When i have tome off from work i tend to play 1-3 hours sometimes on my Epson 8350. Use it for both my PS3 and XBox. I haven't noticed any picture lag but the damn COD:MW3 servers lag like hell, but worked great for Black Ops, Gears of War 3 and Halo Reach. Nice having that 106" of sniping screen for your now much larger faraway targets

My HD20 is used mostly for gaming....1-2hrs every other night....and on a 92" screen it's great....initially had a hard time getting use to the difference of territory on FPS but now I don't notice it....

I spend 25% to 50% of my projector time playing MW3, occasionally some Forza with MS Wheel & Racing Seat. My screen is 134" and I sit around 12' feet away which has been my setup for the past few years without any gaming issues. I currently use an Epson 8350, haven't noticed any lag.

I use my Sony VPL-HW20 all the time, 90% for gaming. Its input lag is between 16-32ms. Feels like a million bucks. I put on around 100 hours a month all-inclusive.

Couldn't imagine going back to a measly 55" screen... 100" is just too freakin AWESOME!!!

It's interesting to hear some people report that playing on a projector is tiring. I'm the opposite, I find the big screen to be the most comfortable. I think just about any game is improved with a projector. Even Wii games like New Super Mario, or strategy games like Civilization V are much better on the big screen. But here's some games I think particularly benefit from a projector: Assassin's Creed series, Uncharted series, and Shadow of the Colossus (especially in 3D).

Recently I've been playing Minecraft. For convenience sake, I usually play it on my laptop screen or on my 32" LCD. When I can though, I hook it up to my projector. Without a doubt, that's the way to play it. The big screen really brings out the landscape and vistas and immerses me in the game.

No input lag to speak of. I have a Mitsubishi HC3800 and an Acer H5360BD.

just got an xbox360 a couple months ago so i've been playing at least a couple times a week. i play forza 4 and tiger woods pga golf on my sharp z15000 projecting on a 110" screen. it's a blast. i don't detect any lag at all.

What so I can waste lamp life on game I think not.

cause spending thousands of dollars on a projector just not to use it...

I wrote earlier that I didn't use my PJ that much for single person playing and used a 42 inch HDTV because I'm about 4-5 foot away from screen. Now on my 42inch HDTV that is fine. But on my PJ it's too close. So for some of us, the place we game might not allow us to move far enough away to enjoy the experience.

Split screen for gaming on PJ is the only way I will play now, since on 42 inch screen the split screens are so small.

Now if I gamed in bigger room, then I probably would use the PJ more often for gaming, so I could be further away from screen. Also, with my 42inch HDTV, I switch between PC mode and gaming mode in PIP, and I can turn on and off the 360 without worrying about lamp life. Every time you turn on the PJ it cuts 2-4 hours off bulb life. So I like to be flexible with gaming, a few minutes here and there, switching between PC and 360 using PIP a few times a day.

I'm thinking of getting LED projector that I might use for 60 inch screen for PC and gaming, short throw, with 20,000 hours life. I'm researching it now. Maybe people posting can also share what PJ they are using for gaming and viewing distance.

We game on a Epson 705HD usually on Friday and Saturday nights. Use both ps3 and xbox 360. No noticeable input lag when playing CODMW3 or Guitar and DJ hero

Very little because I wouldn’t use it for endless hours playing a game or much less watching films nearly most of the films I have I have seen on real huge screen and those that I haven’t I might watch them once on the projector.

The lamp for my projector used to be around £250.00 now its down to around less than £80.00. I guess LCD might be phased out and replaced with LED projectors and that is fine for running mindless hours as they last longer and lot quieter as well.



No to use it wisely not waste it away on silly games for lamp life, wow some must be really raking it in to afford new lamps every few months. Mine has lasted so far 3 years and its only had as little as several hundred hours use out of 3.5K running time.

I don't understand concept of not using something as expensive as some projectors are to it's maximum usage. and I'm sorry but my bulb goes up to 4000hrs. Do you realize how much 4000hrs actually is? Thats a hell of lot of gaming and movie watching throughout the duration of owning a projector before you would even upgrade as tech gets better, and 4000hrs for a bulb that cost 150-300 depending on where you buy it. thats as little as .037 cents an hr(at best possible scenario)thats crazy entertainment value....

It's not really saving the bulb life to not play video games, it just the brightness and color diminish for movie watching. That's why I have two projectors. A $400 Acer H5360 with a 5000 hour lamp life for video games, computer, downloads, tv, or anything my family come over to watch. Now my $8k JVC is only for blu rays, 3D blu rays, and my favorite sport teams. Its a great combination. I even have a Optoma GT720 for my 220in outdoor screen and when I travel since its portable

I use my projector as often as I can, both movies and gaming. I purchased an LG LED model Hx350t a while back and I couldn't be happier. No bulb life issues and I can game away the day if I want. Small, portable and way too quiet. I don't watch tv, haven't for over three years. But everyone is always jealous when I say I'm playing on a 106" screen. And yes mw3 looks amazing at that size. Really draws you in.

Anyone notice the lag on a benq w7000, Acer h9500 or optoma hd3300?

Played on the hd33 and it seemed minimal with the image processing turned off.
