Is there a special type of power amp for stereo input speakers?

In the kitchen i'm going to have two stereo input speakers, and i'm not sure when shopping for a power amp, how exactly they would hook up. It seems to me that each speaker would need both a left and a right signal to operate correctly. Does each speaker take 2 channels?

In that case do I need a 4 channel power amp to power my two kitchen speakers?

I'm confused. This seems way more complicated than car audio ever was.

What's the specific speaker model? Many speakers have two sets of input terminals not because they take stereo input, but because they allow the option of biamplification (which usually is an option that you can skip if you want).

This is the one I was looking at. Not sure if it's even any good. I just know the polk name from car audio, so I figure they still make decent stuff and the price on these seems about right to me for basic background listening.
