Pioneer online purchases

Can someone explain to me the dynamics of why the online stores can up to $400-500 less than the brick and mortar. Don't get me wrong, I understand the dynamics of not paying rent but $500 less??

From example I am eyeballing Pioneer sc-55 and I noticed that the price online is significantly less than the best buy. Why, and I am guess that this has something to do with the warranty no longer being valid if purchase at these stores. Can some one explain.

Thx

If a company is not an authorized dealer (no factory warranty), then they are getting the product through unauthorized wholesale sources that can buy and import from Mexico or some other country or may even be getting truckloads of illegally smuggled goods without the formality of import duties.

I knew a guy who worked at a shady wholesaler in Los Angeles, and their rule was "just buy the goods and don't ask any questions".

Some of that stuff may be a little warm to the touch...lol.

Another possibility, though, is that the online retailer simply buys a large volume of an item from the manufacturer and gets a hell of a deal. Wal-mart does the same thing.

This can be especially true in the case of a product that has been discontinued (or is about to be), and the manufacturer will give a deep discount for immediate cash payment.

But as far as the warranty goes... I have a kuro 111fd that I bought from an auth dealer. I need to get it repaired, I called pio and they had a company come fix it. I however can not recall them qualifying with me where I bought it to see if I got it from an auth dealer. Perhaps they tracked it down using

the serial number on the product?
