Pioneer 1019 vs Denon 1912

I have an old Pioneer 1019 and am thinking about upgrading to a Denon 1912 for the 3d Pass-Through along with other features it has over the Pioneer. On sound quality will I notice that much of a difference?? I am mostly interested in good high quality surround sound along with a lot of umph when it comes to explosions etc.. I want the house to shake and feel like the jet it flying over my head, bullets zipping all around me etc. (LOL) Nothing is wrong with the Pioneer just wanting the new bells and whistles offered by the Denon. It may not be worth the $550+ if the sound quality does not match or I hope surpasses the Pioneer. Thanks for any feedback.

I don't think you need to pay $550 for a 1912.

People get the 2112 all the time for $450.

I'd love to get a hold of a 2112 for that price. I haven't seen them priced that low, please let me know a site in which I can get one.

Just hesitate buying this kind of item online for many reason. What if it is damaged in route "hassle of sending it back", having to be here when it is delivered "Sure they would not leave it at door" etc. Would prefer to buy this at a Local Brick and Mortar. BB has it for $550 for 1912 and $650 for 2112. Even Amazon has them for the same prices. Even the electronics expo the other poster referred to has the 1912 for $549 unless you want an open box and does not even have the 2112. Back to my original question will I see that big of a sound quality difference between the 1019 and 1912?? Thanks for any info.

You call EE and ask for their best price on the 2112 and they will send you a brand, spanking new unit in a box for $450 shipped.

Still no one has addressed my original question. Will I hear a sound quality improvement on the Denon over the Pioneer? Thanks for any info..

That's because it's a subjective question .... like you asking me whether I prefer the taste of apples or oranges. It doesn't matter what I prefer it's what you prefer. You have different speakers, different room dynamics, and most especially different hearing capability. Suffice it to say that some people like the 1019 and some people like the 1912. If you can't demo them yourself then at this level of AVR pick the one that has the features you want.

Edit: I could tell you that "on paper" the 1912 should sound better as it is able to EQ the sub whereas the 1019 cannot; however, have never personally demoed both to together to confirm.

plus it needs to be noted that the "wants" the op put in his first post will be primarily a function of his speakers/subs and their positioning in the room... translated: if he's not getting that now, changing out the avr won't help (although a denon that eq's the sub wouldn't hurt)...
