Replacement woofers for ADS speakers

I have a pair of ADS 300C speakers that I bought new in 1980. These are great speakers that have seen little use in the last 25 years. I decided to use them as surround speakers but realized that one of the woofers needs to be replaced. One was replaced years ago that has the plastic cone but the other is a paper cone that is dryed out. Anyone have any suggestions on where I might find a replacement woofer for the 300C? Thanks in advance for any help!

This is where you need to go:

Richard is awesome! I found him on eBay about 7 years ago before he had his website up. I had been selling through a stash of NOS a/d/s gear and needed a few drivers to replace ones that had been damaged in transit. Great service. As it says on his site, he bought the vast majority of the a/d/s parts inventory when a/d/s was sold to DEI in 2000. He was an engineer there and IIRC he said he used up most of his savings to buy the parts.

I peeked and he has the 300c woofer listed at $55.

Aaron,

Thanks so much for the information and the link! Is that for a replacement woofer or to repair an existing one? I will call Richard and order a woofer on Monday. I had originally used the 300Cs for speakers in my 1980 Honda Accord. They are excellent sounding speakers that will make great surround speakers with my Salk SongTowers and SongCenter. Thanks again.

It looks like it is $55.00 to refurbish an existing woofer. I found Richard's store on ebay and he is selling the L300 woofer for $129.00 each. I think I paid $300.00 for the 300Cs in 1980. So I think I'll see if Richard can refurbish the woofer I have.

Nice. I still have a pair of these in my office. They were the first speakers I ever bought. Think it was around 1984. Love a/d/s.

Looks like you got it figured out. May as well save the $50+ or so dollars (after shipping there and back) over the cost of a new driver and get yours redone with new soft parts.

The a/d/s stuff has a very smooth house sound to it and should work well as surrounds with the Salks. Years ago I found a nice NOS stash of some of their late-90's MV series stuff and played with it for awhile -- LCR was the MV20/u (dual sealed 8's & soft dome mid and tweets) and surround was MV15/s bipole/dipoles -- sweet stuff. Ended up selling it all for a nice profit, but still have a pair of MV15/s'...along with 300IW's and SAT7's from Richard.

Probably should...pretty sure I won't ever use them.

I'll send you a PM tomorrow.
