It's great to be a Prime member anyhow. I'm sure I save the cost of the subscription in a month. I ordered two f12's and didn't pay a penny for two day delivery. I also ordered an Onkyo receiver that weighed as much as those subs and got free two day delivery.

I don't want to start a war, BUT this is not a "glitch". What you are describing is fraud. A glitch would be the site allowing you to get prime free each time. What you are describing is more of a bait and switch and then calling customer service and lying to them about the situation to gain free shipping. I am not making judgement calls on you or anyone who does this, but as someone who works in IT I just had to call out this point.

Alright gang so battle of $300 for a sub set up. My dad finally decided on getting a sub, but has a limit on 300. Hes old school, believes the speakers should do everything, and has rooms full of old huge Genesis, Epicure, and JBL towers. Dude likes his vintage setup, cant blame him though. Those things can get pretty low. And those inverted "fried egg" tweeters sound pretty cool. Anyway- So he has an extra 300 after doing some home repairs and figured he would see what a subwoofer would do to his main setup.

So the question -Two JBL Studio 1 Series SUB150P (they are onsale at NewEgg for 150 a pop). Or wait for the famous RW12D to hit 299? It seems more people like the RW12D because the upgrade path, just throw another in later and bam, you now have a serious sub set up. But he's probably not caring too much about that. Either it sounds good or hes just gonna say oh well and not upgrade, he just wants the best 300 can grab and that be it. So if i were to "quantify" it, haha, am I correct to assume one RW is like a 7, and the JBL is a 6, and two JBLs are like a 7.5-8? Yeah its horrible to do I know, but you get what I'm saying. With the JBL getting some good press lately I'm sorta leaning with 2 of those.

I own an RW12D and its pretty nice, but I don't think I'm gonna lug it all the way to his place so he can test!

What size is the room? Sounds like its mostly for music and he would want something pretty accurate. Is that correct? What kind of music mostly?

Thats what I thought too. Its not that heavy! I can easily pick it up and carry it. XV15 at 92lbs......now THAT.....is heavy!!

I am looking at getting a subwoofer to complement my JBL LXE 770 cabinet speakers.(Old I know but free!) I am wanting to spend $200 or less and after reading a lot of this thread, am eyeing the BIC F12. However, my space is fairly small, 10x10x9, and I dont want this sub to blow me away and be too loud, however I also want this sub to fit well into a larger room in the future if we end up moving. Is thing adjustable enough to where it wont just deafen me in my 10x10 room? I will be using this system for everything: music, movies, gaming. I am new to the HT game so please excuse any ignorance in my posts smile.gif

The F12 should serve you well. If it is too loud in that room you can always turn it down.

From what I read in the reviews you probably wouldn't notice much difference between the Dayton and the Bic. It would be much cheaper getting two Daytons as opposed to two Bics.

Price being equal, which is a better buy? BIC PL-200 or Klipsch RW-12d? Was going to pull the trigger on the PL-200 but just saw the deal on the RW-12d. I know both are good in their own rights...what should I be looking at? Trying to learn more about what makes a good sub ... well good.

They're both killer subs at a delivered killer price. I'm a Klipsch fanboy but I can't knock the BIC, PL-200 either. In my opinion, I think the BIC, PL-200 is better looking but the RW-12d specs out a bit better and at a better price.

Properly integrated into your room's acoustics, I doubt there's much of a difference.

Word. Based on what others have had to say regarding the RW-12d, it has remote control capability but doesn't come with a remote control clicker so you'll have to program your programmable remote control, in order to use the remote control feature that comes built into the RW-12d.

Should I consider the warranty? BIC is 8/5 years while Klipsch is 2 yrs.

Don't know if it's because I'm getting old but like the fact PL-200 have physical knobs vs RW-12d w/digital controls.

All depends on the era one grew up in. Loved the knobs and buttons on 70's era AVR's but today, it's a digital world we're all living in. biggrin.gif

Warranty? That's a good call on your part. Pretty much, our stuff lasts forever. Rarely does something just evaporate but in this fast paced, technological age, a four or five year old television is doing one a favor by dying. tongue.gif Our 46" television died the day before the 2012 Olympics began. Oh darn, looks like we're just going have to go out and buy a 60" TV to watch the Olympics on. And I used the death of our five year old television as an excuse to upgrade the AVR and Center Channel. Strike while the iron is hot. tongue.gif

My personal opinion, based on being a Klipsch fanboy and that the specs of the RW-12d and the PL-200 are so close, if one went with a pair of PL-200's, they'd be "VERY" happy campers.

My feeling, always go with what makes one feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I also plan on running 2 of the BIC F12 subs.

Overall, I like them alot. For me, it was because the size fit my needs (WAF == NO Floorstanding...have a toddler).
I have a 2 speaker setup L & R and because my position, the voices from the phantom center wasn't always great.
Planning on getting 1 more for the center and something for the surround. Should be much better.
