Hi guys. Newcomer lurker here and need a little assistance with my setup. I found an energy s10.3 sub off of Craigslist which I'm pairing with a Denon 1612 receiver and a set of Energy Take 5 Pack 5 speakers. Got them for quite the bargain. Now I realize this automatically denotes a modest setup and I'm not quite able to push my dollar past this point (just recently got married). However I'm dealing with those annoying living room setups. I have a functional 15 x 11 sitting room opening out to a 12 x 9 dining room area (Picture a large rectangle on a smaller rectangular area of open space). There is an open door sized entryway from the dining room area to the kitchen. You can see the image of the floor-plan (it's kinda lo-res but hope it conveys the idea):

Now the only part I really care about is the living room area which has the TV in the middle of the 15 ft area (The wall that is not adjacent to the bedroom) with the couch opposite the TV. The FL and FR speakers would be on both sides of the TV and the rear speakers above the seating position against the wall. (No space between the couch and wall so the speakers are literally hanging above the main viewers head). I suppose the sub would be set in-between the Front speakers and right beside the TV facing the main couch.
My questions are:
1. Is there a better arrangement to maximize this awkward space setup to get the best sound? Please remember I'm only interested in the 15x 11 living room area. Does the speaker setup have to account for the dining area (and hopefully not, kitchen area?)
2. Do I take the dining room size into consideration when buying the sub and opt for perhaps a second sub (might take a while with the missus) or will one be enough?
3. What would you recommend for this setup? Given an ideal budget? Thanks for the help!
