Why Did Halle Berry Cancel Her Academy Awards Appearance?!

It appears Halle Berry will be the star missing in action on the Academy Awards famed red carpet tonight.

So, what gives?

The Oscar-winning actress, who was supposed to present at tonight's 84th annual Academy Awards ceremony with Tom Hanks, canceled her appearance due to her pesky broken foot, Academy Awards producer Brian Grazer told E! News Sunday.

Berry originally suffered the injury back in September, when she slipped while running after her daughter Nahla, who was chasing after a goat. Yes, a goat.

The stunning star was in the midst of shooting Cloud Atlas in Majorca, Spain at the time.

Don Mischer is co-producing/directing for the 2nd consecutive year.

Hans Zimmer and Pharrell Williams will serve as tonight's Music Directors

John Myhre, the fabulous production designer (Chicago, Pirates of the Carribean, Memoirs of a Geisha, X-Men, Dreamgirls and Nine) will be designing the set.

NEP's Denali trucks will once again handle the broadcast.

"No, but you're about to eat my bleeeep. You're about to eat my bleeeeep." F%@k you ABC. That is a new low having a 12-year old kid with mutliple profanities.

On E's red carpet show "Borat" dressed as the dictator, carrying an urn with Kim jong ill's ashes, spilled it all over Ryan Seacrest. And the punch line was "So who are you wearing tonight Ryan? Kim jong ill."

WABC-DT NYC FiOS TV

It seemed like WABC was a second late going to the start of the show.
We missed the announcer saying "From the" and just heard the theater name.

I'm going to out on a limb and predict that 90% of oink's predictions will be wrong.

Dark lit Tom Hanks and the people who just accepted their award.

Is it just me or is the music very loud tonight? I can barely hear the woman doing the voice over as they go to break.

Is anyone else hearing a tinny resonance underneath the audio? I'm watching on WABC-DT and I have checked both OTA and Time Warner Cable. Hearing the same thing on both.

Local station running a crawl about their pissing match with Time Warner Cable. I wonder if they'll get crap about it from someone.

WABC-DT via Comcast.

Anyone else hearing a "sizzle" in Billy Crystal's monologue and Tom Hanks' award presentation?

The annoying sound pulse is back, glad more people are noticing this time

That is at the insistence of the Academy. They keep a tight leash on the broadcast.

Same thing on KABC in Los Angeles (this is a recurring problem though, at least for the last 16 or 17 years the show has gotten into a second late on KABC).

I don't think the lighting on the presenters is dark, just not as overexposed as a lot of what you see on TV.

This show is all about beauty so the lighting is meticulous to make everyone (especially the women) look spectacular. But all the video levels look right (this show feels a little darker than a lot of other shows, but I think Bobby has been trying to light his shows a little bit less garish-ly (the Grammys was also a little more muted).

The Pharrell house band thing needed to be set up it was a little awkward. Billy's Film v.5 was awesome.

WABC-DT FiOS. There was a very noticeable echo when Billy was singing and I hear it now as he's talking.
I have to agree even with WABC-DT having an HD and SD sub channel the PQ is very good.

The "brightness" is fine on the clips and the commercials but the show itself has a little sepia look to it and is dark.

You may be right but to me Lopez and Diaz look a little under lit.

The female voice over about the winner is being lost in the music and audience clapping.
