Don is directing this show very conservatively (especially in comparison to Hamish Hamilton, Lou Horvitz and Roger Goodman). But its kind of nice. It all fits.

Nomination packages are really well done.

Los Angeles, CA KABC-TV via Verizon FiOS. Great PQ and nicely balanced 5.1 audio. A good live telecast so far; unlike CBS and their delayed Grammys (no fun).

WWAY HD OTA 1 million watt blowtorch Wilmington NC, picture looks outstanding but I seem to hear like a scratchy sound out of the center speaker at times when the live mic is going onstage. Otherwise all is good.

Actors' montage was stereo. Weird. PQ is awesome though.

Nothing in the surrounds here in Elgin IL. Receiver shows 5.1, but the mix is crap. Anyone else in Chicago Area have this?

Sounds like a tinny piano keyboard playing underneath, especially at the end of a spoken passage.

I hear it on both HD OTA and Charter SD.

It's better lately but still there.

if you are noticing something wrong, please give you station call letters (or city) and how you are getting the signal. (OTA, cable, sat, other,)

Naaah that's typical hollywood, it's them throwing a bone "Ooooo maybe they will like us now!"

Tacky of them telling her to wrap up to then show 10 seconds of the musicians which just is a strange transition.

There is something wrong at the source with the audio with that digital beeping. I have it on my tv's stereo speakers on both FIOS and Directv feed of WABC!

It's all over the country. Not a local problem.

I'm not hearing any of the audio issues here in LA. Sounds spectacular here.

It's not a beeping per se.

It sounds like a kid's electronic keyboard playing in the background (or the phone ring from JP-3). You can hear it most during laughter and at the end of sentences.

Billy Crystal's mic is REALLY bad with respect to it.

Focus group bit is to long.

Whenever Billy Crystal speaks (or people clap when he's speaking), it sounds like someone's phone is going off in the audience.

From Twitter search on beeping I see Chicago, NY, NJ, St. Louis, Texas, Boston, Maryland etc.

Have you tried listening in stereo? It seems OK in 5.1, but very bad in stereo. The presenters appear in Left, Center, and Right.

Interesting definitely nothing like that going on on in Los Angeles.

WLS TV 7.1 via Comcast. External Audio Sony 5.1 system.

Very low center channel mix, but varies. Sound seems hollow. No rear surround to speak of.

I am getting decent surround on some commercials, and it's fine on other stations.

No problems on the pre-taped stuff, but some slight problems even on live voice-overs.

Main microphone is better than Billy Crystal's but not perfect. Just heard it during the oscar for Sound Mixing when the guy closed with "Scorsese."

It has gotten better, but they need to get BC a hand-held mic. ;-)
