I am using a Xantek MicroLink IR Receiver Kit (ML85K) to control my Motorola set top box (QIP7000 series or specifically QIP7216). In addition to using the kit included model 789-44 connecting block I had to purchase the Xantech model 28EXT External Emitter Adapter and use the "Wire Swap Connector".
I am now interested in controlling my new Denon AVR-2112CI using the "IR IN" female connector on the back of the unit. My question is two fold, can I use the 28EXT External Emitter Adapter to accomplish this, and if so do I use the "Wire-Swap Connector" with the 28EXT to control the Denon AVR-2112CI? My understanding is that the "Wire-Swap Connector" "Swaps the Tip and Ring" on the 3-Conductor male plug. Stating the question in another way, "Should the Tip be the Signal (28EXT without Wire Swap Connector) or should the Tip be +5VDC power (28EXT with Wire Swap Connector) to control the Denon AVR-2112CI ?
I would simply try it, but there are warnings regarding possible device damage if improperly connected.
Thanks for the help!
