What outdoor speakers do we like? Bose 251's or can I do better? Thanks.

Well, I'm not sure what "we" like but I'm partial to German Sheperds, tree trunks and frogs taking a dump.

I don't know what type of outdoor speakers you're really looking for but OSD certainly has plenty to choose from.

What! The Polk Atrium Terracotta sub didn't make your list

Of course, I kinda question the usefulness of a 10" sub outdoors (lol).

I prefer natural as well, but of a different flavor. I live in the boonies and have spent a lot of time landscaping gardens, putting in a goldfish pond and waterfall, planting Japanese maples. This little side of the mountain is a veritable oasis. People come into my home and see audio gear and inevitably ask why I don't have outdoor speakers. They just don't get that nature sounds better. I tell them it needs to be quiet so we can hear the bears approaching.

IMO, anything that makes noise works for outdoors. I've got some cheap Yamaha speakers that have been on the patio for 11 years now and still doing fine. If I want to hear something nice, I go to the system built for it.

I'll second the Boston Acoustics Voyager 6 - I have 3 pair set-up at my house for 3 different areas. They sound great. I'm assuming the Atlantic's are quality as well since I also have that brand speaker in my house.

I installed a pair of PSB CS1000 speakers a few months ago. They sound very nice, and have an extremely flexible mounting system that allows them to be adjusted on all axis- whether mounted vertically or horizontally.

PSB CS1000 speakers

The Boston Acoustics (Voyager 7's) sound great also, but the PSB's have better bass response, which is always challenging outside.

Voyager 7

I've used Bose, Boston Acoustics, and PSB outdoor speakers now. The Bose hold up well in the elements, but don't have the sound quality of the BA's or PSB's. My BA's grills rusted over time, despite being protected from rain and sun. (these were not the Voyager 7's BTW). Happy with the PSB's now. They are a bit larger, but that is the price for better bass.

I've installed Polks, Yamaha, and Monoprice outdoor speakers. But This christmas I got an all Emotiva 5.1 system. I'm going to try their UOM-6.2 running off a mini-x A-100 amp. This is going to be run off my Yamaha A1000 receiver as a pre/pro. XPA-5 is running the inside speakers. So the Yamaha will not be utilizing any of its amps.
