CP I am bummed to hear that. My trusty mrg at BB has once again struck gold and told me their cost. I would be burning up the ears of my sharp rep to do better on your cost. BB is getting it for just under 3700!!!!!!!!!!! INSANE
post #125 of 3181
I don't know about all that, that is even to low for BB........My venders have markup of course but not like that.

I saw the screen shots for myself, much like he did with the Elite and 632. Anyways, perhaps over time their will be room for further efficiencies :-)

Sorry to go slightly off topic - do you guys have any 0% interest/same as cash payment options?

I dont think cp offers finance. Tons of low interest/ zero interest credit cards you could use to buy with cp though

Chris just called me and I've placed my order
He meant it when he said my desired price was "do able"
I'm sure I could've waited a while for a lower price but "I want it now" (early adopter hell)!
Thanks Chris for making the deal happen.

I am about a year out from "pulling the plug" and buying the 80" Sharp - I am holding out for the addition of the local dimming control and perhaps some of the other new features that Samsung and LG have in their new lineup (2 core processor, voice and gesture recognition).

Does anyone have any knowledge about how local dimming will affect the quality of a full-array LED TV?
a year away is light years in terms of tech. LD in a full array tv should be a happy marriage. I am going to say that unless the Elite is released in an 80 inch version you wont likely see a full array LD set outside of that brand.

I was just remembering an interview of a Sharp representative at CES 2012 and the question of local dimming came up (as to if it would be a possibility) and he smiled and said that is certainly possible in the future - however, if it will only be in the Elite then that tacks on several thousand more to the price.

I may not have the luxury of waiting a year to get a new TV - I have an aging Mitsubishi 73" in a built in cabinet that is having some problems and the Sharp 80" dimensions are perfect for the cabinet (suspended by an articulating arm mount). I was just wondering if LD added that much to picture quality as I don't have that much experience with LED-LCD TVs - just plasma and DLP.

Probably referring to the 945 series which is delayed and likely cancelled

What kind of extended warranty options are there for a TV like this? Any ideas?

you have Sharps extended warranty & they will replace the display with very few hassles if the the display is defective with a current model of the same value & Size .I know of some who had just one visit from a Sharp tech to get a new TV & some who just sent in Photo's of the display problems & they sent out a new Display.
Sharp will deliver a new Display & pick-up a defective display , as well box up the old one.

Square Trade @ Costco= where they have a lot of hoops to jump thru to get a replacement( multiple visits by a tech ) & then they just cash you out anyway @ what "they figure" is the current cash value of the display (keyword is what they "figure" ) even thou you bought a say = 3k value policy it's what they want to pay , sorta like a pro-rated tire wear warranty on your car's tires .
I know a few who got pooched like this from them & then you can only get that when the Display MFGer's warranty has run it's coarse , You can see where this is going Right ? Say after 15 months of the Original Sharp warranty coverage they then figure the display is not worth the full amount what you paid for it due to it being 15 months old , the older it gets the less they will pay .

Thanks a lot for that guys. I'm def. going with Sharp then. Would you happen to have a link or is the info. included with the TV purchase materials.

Sorry if I'm turning this thread into a "pre-order" thread :-(.

when you register the Display with Sharp , do it on the phone & the Customer Service Rep can help you .. & answer any question
BTW the Sharp Extended warranty is fully transferable as well .

Can we change this to a "pre-order thread" until 1 person has theirs That way we can talk about CP and BB etc.

Btw, I also asked my BB and I was shocked at the price- I think they have the 632 as the 844 - no way they can sell it at that price with their crazy overhead driving them out of buisness.
