Fast is one of the better contributors in this thread regardless of owning a 844. He has a 632 which is a fine set as well.

Do you even own a TV?

Not sure what you are basing that on but he has been helpful to me when I switched to DTV after I purchased my 844u.

Now I'm wondering if something is wrong with my set since I saw the "jittery" issue in Law and Order on TNTHD also like you. LOL!

It is still there - very slightly on Law and Order..... but I was seeing it on every channel - and REALLY bad on Law and Order where it was completely unwatchable.

If you don't see it on other channels, then I'm guessing it is just L&O...

Is it normal to see clouding when the screen is totally black or mostly black? I have noticeable clouding in all 4 corners. Wondering if the way my tv was handled by the 2 Best Buy guys in the store and the fact they laid it flat in the back of the truck has anything to do with the clouding issue?

galleyhand. yeah pretty much. you wont see it with a source on. And with adjusted settings it can be minimized.

You know what...I do agree with you that there is a difference, but I've spent a lot of time viewing the 844u and the elite, and tbh..yes the elite has better blacks and the picture is a little crisper, but if you play with the settings on the 844u and get the color as accurate as you can, I really don't see that huge of a difference. My best buy always plays the same footage on the elite...some tropical water scene that transitions from day to night to really show off the black level...I had them hook up avatar that was showing on the 844u in the showroom and I honestly could not tell that much of a diff, and tbh with the 80" screen, I liked watching it on the 844u...just my 2 cents...BTW- my tv should be here next week....

If you look back in this thread, Chad B commented on the difference between the elite and the 844u.

Not sure what fact you are basing your comments on, they seemed to like the elites just fine

I am really enjoying watching the Celtics tonight. This set is great for sports. No blur at all. The PQ is simply awesome.

Actually, when the screen is black but there is something showing in the middle of the screen the clouding is still there in all 4 corners and parts of the left/right edges of the screen. Does your 632 have any clouding when a source is present? Since the top of the box says the TV should always be transported or stored in the upright position and Best Buy had my TV side ways on a dolly and laid it flat for transport, I shouldn't have a problem telling them I want a replacement or will I???

You do need to be back about 10 feet, or more, from the set to minimize corner and edge lightening up. Also, try to keep close to a 90 degree angle between the center of the screen and your eyes. If you're judging from say, 5 feet away, you will see lots of light creeping in on the sides and corners..........All LCD sets behave this way, but, of course, the effect is magnified with such a large screen.

Does anyone have info on the 90 inchers and the new 80 inch elites? FutureShop is now selling the new 90 incher, should i wait for the elite 80inch?

I've ordered my beast via US Appliance on Saturday and now its shipped with home direct USA. My question to all of you who can assist me is on the tracking info it states an ( anticipated delivery date ) of 6-21-12 which shouldn't be anywhere near accurate since A. US appliance says 7-10Days and also everyone else has received theirs within that timeframe. Has this happened to any of you and if so could you elaborate on how it went.

How is the 3D performance on this set?

From to reviews and what I have seen of the tv at frys...it is very good...a little cross talk but not too bad...I really couldn't mess with it as frys has their glasses fixed on some mount, but looking throgh the glasses provided a nice image.

I am a not particularly a big 3D fan but it is fine on this set. Very little cross-talk, plenty bright, very good PQ.

I sit 11 feet from the TV. I got up and walked further away from the TV and saw the same thing.

Sitting down and looking straight ahead, my eyes are even with the center of the TV. Is this good or does the center of the TV need to be higher up?

From a practical sense, your screen height sounds fine. Mine is a little bit higher to allow for my stand and equipment to fit underneath. The important thing is to not have it too high where it may cause eye and neck strain. The 90 degree angle between the eyes and center of screen can usually be adjusted after with a good tilting bracket.

Would any of you be able to give me insight as to what would be the best way to unbox and plug in the tv when it arrives while the shippers are still present so that I can check for damage. I know that I must slide the box off, but what way do you cut the bottom and top or are their tabs?
