I get my TV on Thursday afternoon so I'll let you know how the comparison goes.

Curious to see how this works out for you, my tv comes in Wed. I am kind of bummed because I just realized my Denon 2310 doesn't support 3D pass through.

I've had my 844 for a few days now, I purchased it to replace a 82" Mitsubishi DLP that was near impossible to view in high ambient light (very pleased with the Sharp in ambient light), I've owned several smaller LCD tvs and both DLP and LCD projectors and I have never really noticed what I believe is motion blur till I got this Sharp, I've tried all the different motion enhancement options as well as turning it off and nothing fixes it. Do any other 844 owners notice this?

Curious, what has a better picture, the Mits 82" or the 844? I have the 82838 and not in love with the PQ but do love the size.

Saw another user of the 844 post earlier about seeing trails on golf balls while watching the Masters.

Motion blur aside, the 844 by a mile.

Some of this could be source related. The masters may not be the best test. Through in a could quality BluRay like Avatar and let us know if the motion blur is noticable.

However I can understand the frustration, because if it is source related, not every you watch will be pristine.

Anyone notice input lag for gaming? I have yet to see tests on the bigger sharps even in game mode.

I too have a Mits DLp 73736) and looking to use it more as a desktop (see full 1920 not 1804), better color black etc. play lots of games too

Would adding a processor like the DVDO Edge Green or ISCAN Duo improve the picture on a new set like this 844? I am replacing an eight year old Runco 60" that came with a processor and I got used to the convenience of a switch and one long 40' cable.

lot of talk about motion blur and all that but those posts are useless if you are not including the settings you are using.

Us 632 owners can tell you that motion blur is almost non existent on our sets and they are close brothers.

settings people !!!!

I can not remember the setting on the 735U, which is 240MHZ also, that needs to be turned off. This setting causes a lot of motion problems when it is turned on. This feature being turned on is set default from the factory and needs to be turned off.......LOL, I can not remember though.......

I got rid of all motion blur by going into the picture settings and turning off the Aquamotion setting. I tried 120hz high, low, 240, and 480 with no luck. Once I turned it off no more golf ball trails as I watched the Masters the rest of last weekend and none during baseball highlights. Never saw it with hockey.

I'm using the rest of the Suzook settings from earlier in thread(hijacked from the 632) until ChadB calibrates.

The size and the brightness of the TV really shine in my viewing environment.

I saw it there. Why not on the US website? Very odd.

Strange, shouldn't it be the other way around. I thought the Aquamotion was there to prevent blur. What is it for then?

I'm sure the experts will chime in, but you might try turning off film mode and noise reduction

So they can charge more $
That's not a Joke !

The only " Real " advantage this 844 has over a 632 80" is the 3D
So You the buyer , must ask yourself is 3D worth the price difference ???

I was wondering if one of the new owners of the 844 could help me out and make a measurement on the back of the TV from the lower mounting hole on the right hand side to where the component/composite/analog audio area is and also the area where the USB/ optical digital output etc. are. I am receiving my tv tomorrow (Wednesday) and want to get an idea if the universal mounting bracket as supplied by Chief (I will be using the PDR-UB bracket) might overlap these areas (otherwise I will have to order one of their mounting brackets specifially for this TV). By my measurements, the lower support of the bracket will extend about 6.5" to the right of the mounting hole. I finally found a closeup of the back of the new model on the Sharp.ca website and it is hard to judge just how far that distance is by looking at the picture. The back configuration of the new model is somewhat different from the 632.

Thanks in advance for any help.

What are the recommended wall Mounts for this unit? Any suggestions? I am looking at the Sanus articulating arm mount and wondering if this is okay. Are any other brackets needed for it?

Just got my LC-80LE844U delivered from Paul's TV this morning at 9:00am. All went well with no issues.

This replaced the UN65D8000 that was in the family room.

I have not had a lot of time to mess around with settings yet, but so far I am pretty impressed with it. My Uverse TV service and blu-ray look great playing on the TV. I have yet to try out XBOX and PS3 on it. I had to get back to work.

I will have to check those out tonight.

Any 844 owners comment on red push? It's something evident on the 632 which can apparently be (mostly) tamed with proper calibration, though I think I've seen reports that doing so has a deleterious effect on whites (pushes to yellow iirc).

TIA.

Earlier today I arranged with Cleveland Plasma to review and calibrate the 80LE844U, and next week I'll translate my notes into a full review. The 844U is a fantastic set. The addition of a 10 point grayscale/gamma adjustment is a big plus, and the red CMS adjustment in particular behaved better than last year's models and helped achieve more realistic flesh tones and colors. I found it even interfaces with CalMAN if you tell CM that you're interfacing with an Elite, which opens up the ISF day and night modes. However, as with the Elite, those modes have some issues (the main one being that gamma flexibility in ISF night mode is limited). I ended up calibrating ISF Day for viewing in bright rooms and Movie for a more accurate night mode. Overall a nice improvement over the 80LE632U.

Very nice review from a very nice guy about a very nice set

Keep in mind, that is not a review. Just the cliff notes, in one paragraph, if you will..... There where many people asking how the LC-80LE632U and the LC-80LE844U compared, there is the short answer As Chad noted, BIG review to come..........

Yep after the delivery I went back to work and got stuck there later then expected, so I will have to put off messing around with the TV till another day.

I did watch TV with the wife for about 3 hours tonight, with default calibration and had no complaints.

Here is a quick pic of the TV from my iPhone.

Looks like you are waiting on the 100" or 110" model (to fill in the built-ins) - good thing to be future proofed in your built-ins

Better is relative . I am happier that it isn't worse . Apples to Apples is it $1000 better? I doubt it. if It had LD it might be .

But hey I'm not complaining, mine is coming tomorrow...
