Sharp AQUOS Quattron 9 Series 3D LED TVs
Sharp's full HD 1080p 9 Series AQUOS Quattron 3D LED TVs in screen size classes of 60- and 70-inches (LC-60LE945U and LC-70LE945U) offer advanced LED technology with Sharp's brightest Full HD Active 3D panel. They incorporate Quattron Quad Pixel Plus II and full array LED backlighting with local dimming to improve picture quality and deliver a superior viewing experience. The 240Hz panel improves picture quality further by virtually eliminating blur and artifacts from fast-moving video.

The 9 Series features Sharp's new SmartCentral and built-in WiFi. With five HDMI® inputs, consumers will be able to connect a variety of devices – including computers, to Blu-ray Disc™ players, DVRs, camcorders, sound bar systems and video game consoles – directly to their TV.

Is this the Elite Killer ?

I think more like the 80/20 Elite. Most of the performance at a much much lower (street) price.

In fact I predict that the 945 will outperform the (2011) Elite in certain areas.

I am looking forward to this as well. The MSRP was released:

LC-60LE945U-$3499.99
LC-70LE945U-$4499.99

Does anyone know what the screen finish looks like? Matte or Reflective?
Does anyone know if these will have matte or glossy screens?

Thanks.

The good news is that with these msrp's the 70" should street under $4k in short order if not right out of the gate, and drift lower over time.

Anyone know what the "quad Pixel Plus 2 is?"

there are reports that the 945 line is being cancelled &/or delayed significantly.......
Does any one have a clue about Sharps plan of action with regard to the 9 series? I was waiting to decide between the 947 and hx929. Hoping some insiders have heard some news.

Agree with above. There are no data to even suggest these will ever come out. All reports, albeit rumor, look bad.

The Elite 80" has alot of "reasonable" rumor and the release of a full array 80" this week makes it seem very possible. Given that Magnolia is planning floor space for an 80" Elite I almost beleive it (for the fall).

No news is not good news as for the release of these models ....
To me it seems that BB/Magnolia is/was making room for the 80" 844's rather than the Vaporware 80" Elite ... No news on a V2 of the Elite 2013's as well , the current Elites are called 2012's IIRC ..
They are people sitting on the fence waiting for a 70" 945 with Local Dimming .
Hopefully we will see some sorta news coming soon from Sharp on these issues , but don't hold your breath .
You would think Sharp would release some info on where they are going with a premiere product like the 945's were reported to become .

As these sets wont be available before aug2012, there are no owners. Therefore, the title of this thread should be corrected.

I figure a slight software tweak & Viola New marketing tool !
I am very interested in the 60" 945...but not sure I am willing to wait until August? or if they will be released at all. If they have already been marketing them to cancel the entire line there had to be some kind of a flaw in the TV?

I myself really want to purchase the LC-60LE945U but heard the rumors about it being canceled. So I contacted SHARP twice and the following is there response. Response 1: Thank you for inquiring about the LC-60LE945U. I have not heard any information about this model being discontinued or not being released. Could you please advise where you got the information? You can always check sharpusanews for future updates and releases as well.

Response 2: I will be happy to assist you with this information. I have researched this information for you. At this time model LC60LE945U is still scheduled to be released this summer. Unfortunately there is not a current date. Please continue to check back with us for the availability of this unit. You may also check our website sharpusanews for the release of this model.

They are loosing a lot of money -

I wonder if they are going to even bother with 945U now.

Just came from HH Gregg looking at the 847, they had it right next to last years model, I think it was a 735? Anyway pretty amazing prices on these panels these days.

At any rate I talked to the salesman so take this for what its worth He claims they had a sharp rep in the store last week and when I ask about the 945 he "claims" they told him it wasnt getting released, It could have been because he so badly wanted to sell me the 847? He also claims that they are cutting models and going to focus on the 60", 70" 80" and I think a new 90"?

I feel this would cut out alot of their sales as not everyone has room for a giant display. I'm going to hold off a while longer and see if any news is released and let the 847 sink into the public to see what problems may arise with it.

Cnet has removed 945 model from their 2012 comparison chart.

Yes but that happened six weeks ago. Not a definitive moment. Only new information is rumint from an HHGregg salesman who works on commission and wants a sale today.

In other news, anyone test out the 847 yet?
