It seems that no matter what brand, what model yada yada yada every display has a problem of some kind. The key is finding the one you can live with. IMO minimal clouding only on a very dark or pure black screen is almost a non issue.

I wanna go ahead and pull the trigger on my 847, but I'm gonna hold off a lil while longer. My wife just got done spending wayyyyyyyyyyy to much money on remodeling my 5 yr old house ( I could rant on this for hours but I'll spare you) So she is really pushing for me to go ahead and get my new Tv and new speakers so she wont feel so bad about the money she spent....holding off and gonna use this to my full advantage

I even went so far as to tell her I was gonna have to sell my harley to pay for her crap! That got the guilt rolling

And no lcoal dimming

I agree - these are nice sets. But the full array dimming, if watching in a dark enviorment, is so impressive. Also 80" with a small "man cave" like mine might be too big

The 60" is what I'm looking at and I'm just not sure my room is big enough to support a 70" TV, I have a 52 right now and I just feel like a 60 would be just the ticket and the price on the new 847 is really good. I just mounted my 52 on the wall over the weekend because she bought a new Tv stand/cabinet that is fully enclosed (like I told her not too) and I refuse to put my ps3 and AVr receiver in it and burn it up....what is it with women not believing a word we say? I told her you cant put electronic stuff in a closed area, her reply : Then why would they make them that way:

Just to prove her wrong I put my ps3 in there, left the door open and within 30 minutes the fan kicked on, the fan has never kicked on in the 4 years I had my ps3...she said: Huh, I guess you were right....luckily in planning for the future I put a mount up that says its good for 200 lbs....I'll ck out the 844 and see, but I'm just not sure it wouldnt be too big and I would end up with SDE...I sit 10' to 12' away.....

Hmmmm, after further evaluation of the re configuration of my LR, and now that the TV is on the wall I would be 14' away, thats to the back of my couch. I gained about 3 feet by getting rid of my huge ETC and by getting 2 new powered reclining couch's that only sit 1" away from the wall....mabye I do need to ck out the 70" was it a 632? 2011 model?

I looked at it, no 3d....which isnt huge, but it would be nice to have. I think I'm going to have to decide on a 60 or 70...

So I am sitting about 7-8 feet away... so the 73" DLP (which when reduced to elimite overscan is 71") seems about right. Still when playing battlefield or COD I need to "scan" the bottom corner of the screen.

After contacting one of the SHARP reps, I have been informed that the LC-70LE945U is still due to come out in mid to late June. I hope this is true as I do not want to settle for "decent" 847 model.

And this is why I take everything from CNet (and anyone else not named Sharp) with a big fat grain of salt.

Not yet being the key words there....I may have to hold off a while longer on the 847, to see if indeed this model does come out. It's going to be hard once you have your mind set on something to wait...and wait. But June is only 2 months away, I am curious though what the $$ difference will be. If the MSRP listed on page 1 of this thread is correct, your talking about $1,000 cost diff from the 847 to the 945, have to be alot there to justify that.

The difference between edge lit (845) and full array back lit with local dimming (945) is massive, all else being equal.

I just got some bad news from the sharp rep and her managers today at my store. There will be no 945 series this year. They pushed it to 2013.

That was my reaction when they told me that.

Is it a Joke ? Sharp did the same cancelation last year with the LE935 which were also local dimming. What's wrong with local dimming and Sharp? It seems that the LE945 are vapoware/fake. What a frustration again

Yeah. We've cancelled the 945's so dont wait any longer to buy the 847's.

what about 735U? 735U is full array also.

To be fair though, the 90" was probably not on your previous price list, but now we should be seeing it in the next few months. I suspect the 945 to be cancelled or delayed, simply because it would be to close in performance to the 2012 Elites. Which would just cannibalize sales from the Elite line.
If the Elite line goes 4K in 2013 or simply disappears, then it makes the 945 much more likely for 2013 release.

I think delay, for the reasons you cite. I do think Elite will be bumped to 4K in the next go round. I think this all happens in the Fall.
