Official Sharp AQUOS LC-60LE847U & LC-70LE847U Owners Thread - Page 73

I have the lower right cloud you have, KTM300EXC. But it's nowhere near that egregious on my panel. I need an all black screen to even notice it and, even then, it doesn't really bother me at all. Then again, I have my backlight set to -10 for 2D movies and -2 for 3D movies. Yours looks pretty bad. I'd ask for a replacement.

well, I try to maintain my cool and patiences when dealing with Customer Support but am always left astounded by incompetence or rather "Protocol"...

ICalled Sharp, gave all my info and the problem I was having.

Told to do a Factory Reset....Can't as I am not home.

Asked how a factory reset would help a Panel issue, an issue that is well documented, she had no answer and said she cannot comment until I did a factory reset....

Asked if I could have the procedured for taking the various pics of the panel to prove/show Sharp my clouding issues so that I could take them tonight and have them ready after the factory re-set didnt work....She flat out and in a totally disinterested, one step above welfare voice said "NO" and remained silent. I said really? You cannot email me the procedure so that I can have all the required info at hand and ready if and when the reset doesnt work....Again a Big Fat No and SIlence. I lauhed, said Wow and told her Id call in the am.

Will a factory reset do anything? What is the procedure for that?

Should I call back and demand to talk to a higher level supv? Tell them thus far I am unhappy with the TV and their servivce or am I jumping the gun and should I just follow the Protocol and Script? knowing whee it will all lead?

Any Advice on how to proceed to get another set?

I'd call the office of the president and tell them you are fed up with their lower level CSRs.

I think that's the one for me but am not sure if I'll regret it later and wish I'd've gone for one of the more expensive versions.

Sorry, I missed this.

If you want to use calman with a meter you need at least basic. Tutorial won't see the meter.

the factory reset is just an unplug the set and wait a few minutes, then plug it back in. how about calling back and saying you did the factory reset and the problem persists?

I got controlcal and created two ISF modes (night & day) and love the results.

This is from Inception.

Really? Now I'm confused because they have the meter bundled with the Tutorial version: http://store.spectracal.com/consumer/calman-5-tutorial/c3.html

Care to share your settings, e30cabrio? smile.gif

Look here:
http://store.spectracal.com/calman5/licenses

Look at meters.

It is only a tutorial, the meter needs to be licensed, there is an additional fee.

Well that's disappointing. I thought their bundling the meter with the Tutorial version meant I could use it (albeit to a limited degree). frown.gif

You can with limited interaction with calman.

Interesting. Thanks for answering my questions.

Well, while I save a few extra dollars to at least get the basic version with the meter, care to share what your night settings turned out to be? smile.gif

I ended up getting Controlcal which let me add 2 ISF memories.

The thing I really like is I can adjust it via my laptop over the network from my couch.

http://www.controlcal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=790

With them I uploaded a calibration from another user and tweaked from there. I'm not home so can't look where it ended up but it looks great.

That bottom right corner looks really bad. I also have some in the bottom right corner but not nearly as bad as that. I don't think I could live with that much light coming through.

Well I finally got around to trying to do the factory reset with Sharp Rep. on the phone. Hold power button to cycle the Sharp Lighted Cheveron til it blinks and tv is off. Then with left hand simultaneously hold Vol Down and Input then with other hand push and release power button, supposedly a (K) was suppose to appear in the upper left hand corner of tv, it never did after numerous attempts (5)....I'm pretty adept at following directions, especially with tech so I feel I was doing exactly what the CSR was instructing me to do, yet it didn't work. So he requested for me to send a set of Pictures in (Funny, I know this was heading this way, could have saved alot of time if the 1st rep. helped me with the info I wanted, yet I digress....

So, pictures have been sent, supposedly I will here back from them in 2 business days, if not by Wed of next week I am to call.....Luckily the TV is minimally watchable during the day and with normal Cable programming and I can watch another TV, but the clouding to me is unbearable at night and with movies such as Dark Night Rises Ect....I should not have to compromise my standards, which are not all that high to watch tv with a clear flaw.

The Saga continues.

And my saga ends. My Panasonic P65VT50 arrived today from Best Buy, and it simply blows away these Sharp units, except for brightness.
My advice, for what it's worth, if you are having problems with your Sharp, get the Panasonic plasma.

Just picked up the LC-70. Watching Tintin in 3d tonight and got a message that popped up in the lower left hand corner of the screen saying something about "1 hour of 3 d viewing watched".

Any ideas? Does that have to do with battery life in the glasses getting low?

Thank you,
Dustin

Nope its just a timmer to let you know how long you have been watching 3d for. You can go into the settings and turn that off if you want.

Cool. Thanks,

Just got a new lc70le847u. When it first turned on, I immediately noticed similar screen issues to what I see in this thread. Do all these TVs have these problems to some degree? Are most better than this...

When watching anything that is dark, I can clearly see the largest blotch close to the middle.

Will Sharp exchange this for me because of this? And if they do, is it a crap shoot? I wouldn't want to exchange my 2 day old TV for anything refurb at this point...

My old TV (5 years old) was a Samsung 52" Full-array LED with local dimming. I knew I probably wouldn't get as good black levels, but I am really shocked by the inconsistency in the panel. But, I'd rather not bother if they are all like this. Because if the are, I would rather skip the warranty/cs hassle and return the whole thing. But, I bought this TV for many reasons, and if this is truly just a bad one, I would like to just get it replaced under warranty...

Thoughts? Sage Advice?

Thanks,
-Valkyrie-MT

Good Luck. I spent about 2 months trying to sort out my issues (3D ghosting mainly). I have clouding similar to yours (however, the clouding in the lower right on your tv appears to be worse than anything I have). At the end of the day Sharp told me my TV was within "spec". Anyway, it was a gong show getting a response. For the clouding... have you tried a soft or thick pile paint roller? Someone on this thread mentioned it. I tried it and it helped. Just gently roll the screen from the centre out to the edges (at least that is what I did). It might help that really bright spot in the lower right.

I will try the paint roller only when I am doing waging war with Sharp...

I'm still in the very initial stages of trying to get an answer and hopefully replacement, I don't take "No" lightly nor do I take kindly to someone telling me "It's within Spec" when it's clearly not. I liken this to buying a car, or any very expensive item only to find out it performs as a sub par, less than advertised level. I would not stand for a car manufacturer telling me well it's got close to the Horsepower we advertised so its within spec, even if it's down 20HP.....Nope, "let me talk to "Your" boss" will be a continued and often uttered response from me.

Just sent a picture of my Sales Receipt, should here something by Wed., I'll report back with an update soon.

Thanks for the support and knowledge this site and this post has given me....I do wonder how many people have been successful at getting replacements from Sharp?
