So I spoke to someone supposedly high up this morning. He had asked to call me back before he made the promise, to check inventory. When he called back he agreed to send an LC-70LE8470U. indicating they had one. I was happy.

I called about 1pm PST to see what the status was and ask about a remote issue I have been having when watching 3D (glasses IR signal makes other devices remotes freak out)

They said they shipped a 60" WTF?????

They also said it was unheard of that 3d IR has an effect on remotes.

I called the manager back and asked about the 70" he promised. He said there were none available so they sent the 60" I said what happened to checking stock & the admonition that giving me the 70 was a big upgrade and there would be nothing but service in the future. It got heated and I asked to speak to his boss. He asked to call back after he dug deeper into stock.

I just want a freaking functional TV.

Last page in your post saying Ur saga continues... You refer to your set as a 60 inch. However the post below yours quotes you and refers to your set as a 70. I'm assuming you edited the original post from 70 to 60 and that you have a 60 yes? Why do you think you deserve a 70 as a replacement? I agree you deserve either a working set or a refund. It's quite common for sharp to upgrade within a size, e.g. 74x to 84x. But uncommon to go up in size.
Best,
Jeff

Agreed - I paid a modest "uplift fee" to upgrade from a 640 to an 847 in the 70 inch class during my trials and tribulations with Sharp last July. He does have a 60 inch. I doubt Sharp would upgrade him a size class without some extra $$ involved.

70 was a typo I deserve it because it was promised because it is the 4th set this time and I have bought 5 aquos sets since 05 and none has worked. All have required multiple replacements.

I think the question is how does this offend you?

I missed on my phone the uncommon size upgrade comment. I had a costco 46 62U. It failed, they sent an 82, it failed, they offered a 92U or a 55". I took the 92U which is in my Daughters livingroom today. Same with whatever was under the 700 series. I bought a 46 & 40 6xxU from Sharp on a customer satisfaction deal, they were both bad. They offered me that 6xx in a 55& 46 or the 700s in the sizes I bought. I took the 700s they are both in service in my house as I type.

I don't think anyone is offended, but it seems as though you've had a run of bad luck from a manufacturer. I feel your pain, but I've been able to work with Best Buy and Sharp to take care of issues I've had with the 7 70 inch panels I've owned since March of 2012. I see in some of your past postings that you went from a 745 series set to an 847 recently. With your track record, if you're not happy with the resolution that Sharp is offering, I'd ask for a refund and purchase something from another vendor...Good luck!

Hello 847U owners,

I recently bought 60" 847U. I noticed that the picture jumps (sort of stutter) vertically whenever I watch TV (FIOS CISCO STB). However, there is no vertical jumps on any other other sources like PS3, Roku 2, DVD player etc. The TV is connected to Denon 3808ci if that matters.

It looks like everything points to Setop box. I swapped the HDMI cables / ports on possible combinations with no luck. Its hurting my eyes after few minutes of watching.

The vertical jump (Stutter) is visible in almost all channels (all HD) but I think its nothing related to the channels itself since the channel logos are jumping vertically itself not just the content.

Any help is appreciated.

greeno seemed upset.

The bottom line is eventually when I have gotten a good set Sharps are great.

I paid a premium for the 745 because I didn't want quattron. They had no 745 stock so sent the 847. Now they theoretically researched stock, theoretically found and offered a 708470U, I accepted it as a final resolution.

Hours later without being informed they processed a 608470U. I found out when I called to check stock. Is it unreasonable to expect them to honor their offer?

If you don't want a set with Quattron, why do you want an 847 series set? You could always refuse delivery. Did you get the name of the rep you were working with? Did Sharp put that in writing to confirm that resolution?

I have his name, direct line & email address. He is very high up in CS and I believe will come through. The things that bother me is that they "lost" this transaction that sent me my current 847 and I had to email pictures of the series & SN stickers and that he checked stock and then said there were none so they reneged and decided I'd just take a 60.

Even with my Wife, I prefer the illusion of a choice.

Not offended in the least. Just trying to figure out your situation, saw an inconsistency in the post and the subsequest quote and then comment about what's typical.

I just spoke to him, they located an LC-70LE8470U and will process and email the letter & tracking as soon as that department opens at 9:00am CST.

That's good news. You should have a couple of pair of 3D glasses in the box too.

Best to experiment once you get things dialed in properly. My black level detail is pretty good with that backlight setting - see below. I backed off the brightness a tad. You might want to pick up a calibration disc like the Disney Wow blu-ray or DVD to tune up your screen.

How is the detail now for you with the CNET settings?

I'd contact the cable company and see if they are aware of the issue. If not get them to come and swap or repair the box.

That is great except I already bought the 7! I need when we have a full house. Having extras never hurt.

You should check the box, and see what resolutions it is set up for.

I have my box set to Native, which just passes what it receives, W/O changing the resolution.

Using remote control, Power -OK - Menu

This will bring up a screen, where you can change these options.
Or try using component cables instead of HDMI.

Did you restart your cable box? Unplug it for 10 seconds and reboot. I had same issue and after restarting my box it corrected the issue.

Putting it in "game" mode will stop the vertical jumping. Resetting the cable box didn't work for me, It just put it back to 1080i mode. I prefer 720p since my cable box can't do 1080p.
Anyone know if the LC-70LE847U is edge lit with local dimming? or without local dimming?
