How about San Diego,CA?

I went 'just to look' at the 745 and 847 last night, and the 847 was 100 bucks cheaper. Needless to say, I brought one home.

Not much time to play around with it, but it looks a million times better than my old Sony RP. IIHF game on last night looked pretty good right out of the box.

I got my 845 delivered yesterday. Still tweaking it but man is it great in the living room. Replaced a Sony RP that went on the fritz. The blues on the 845 are knockouts and the perceived depth of field is terrific. More as I get a chance to watch more.

Thanks for all the great info CG, sounds like you have a pretty nice set. We appreciate you taking the time to keep us informed.

CGGorman thanks for that great coverage of the event. I am viewing this page on my 70" 845 and was using 240 hz but after your review just now set it to 120 high and it did brighten the screen considerably, thanks. Also I am surprised that he did not turn noise reduction to off but left it at low.
Not my review. I was just relaying info as Chad commented. I don't know where it will appear first, but keep an eye on his profile, his website, and/or the Cleveland Plasma website for the actual review and calibration report PDFs.

Will any of the universal IR 3d glasses work with the 847 or is the only current option the AN3DG20B?

845 doesn't have 240hz at least according to Sharp spec page.

here are the pics i promised. all the software and hardware is exactly the same as before. only change is Chad B's ISF Night calibration in a darker room. the photos really don't do the reality justice...

compare to the earlier post:HERE

all the sharp 3d displays use the same glasses. if the universals you are interested in list any sharp displays, you should be good.

Sounded like Chad has a busy schedule in the next few days. Sounded like it would be about a week before the review was up.

So we just got our 60" C8470U set. Turns out there's clouding, and I think by carefully wiping the screen we've made it worst.

Will post a shot from our DSLR shortly. Our old set was a 52" Toshiba XV545u, and with just minor tweaks onthe 847U the difference is minimal, haven't watched some good Blu-Ray content just yet.

Also, has anyone noticed crosstalk on this set? PS3 GT5 3D default settings, in game mode even with a dark room and lightboost set at low. It's pretty bad, and you can see it with the glasses in 2D as well. Also.. even when using 2D to 3D upconvert I can see cross talk as well.

My set even has clouding, although it's not horrible, there's just many blobs around. Not sure if I should exchange it at costco, or just call sharp to get a replacement. We've spent quite some time getting everything together.

2D picture quality is sharper and nicer, although it seems like our XV545U still performs very well, and has no clouding at all.

I recommend the paint roller.

Thank you CGGorman for mentioning the paint roller, as you saw pictures of my clouding, this has really help out a tons. I had nothing to lose with mine so I tried it. Just make sure the paint roller is clean before you use it.

Grand Turismo 5 on PS3 looks very good in 3D, but you have to adjust the settings. I don't remember them and I'm at work, but after 5 or 10 minutes of trial and error there was virtually no crosstalk and depth was natural.

If the old tv was set up for 3D before, Don't forget to readjust your screen size in the PS3.

CGGorman could you tell us more about the general settings he used such as which mode (game, movie, etc) or what settings on or off?
thanks,
Chad unlocked two new modes that aren't visible in the menu without the special unlock equipment/codes he has. My "movie", "game".etc. modes are all bone stock now. The only settings I know are the ones I mentioned before.
GC, with the new calibrated settings have you experimented with turning back on the Quad and or 240hz? I'm sure you must prefer the quad off and using 120hz high but I was just wondering if the differences were dramatic or subtle.
I can't change anything in the ISF modes. I'll have to get a pic tonight.
After reading CG's report I switched from 240 to 120 high and found more dynamic contrast and color as well as a small brightness boost. I will be using 120 high from now on. I wonder if this has something to do with the inconsistencies Chad found with the hz readings vs settings?

Gotcha, I'm not sure if it's my eyes ( I wear glasses, and my prescription is about 1.5 years old ) or not, but I seem to get cross talk on the middle ball in the sharp built in 3D demo. Tried with two pairs of the AN-DG20 glasses ( if that's the proper model ).

Could you share the GT5 settings once you get them? Thanks. Also, I found in the manual of the description for the different AquoMotion settings. Seems very interesting.

AquoMotion480: Turn the LED backlight on or off for 240Hz drive display.
AquoMotion240: Turn the LED backlight on or off for 120Hz drive display.
120Hz High/120Hz Low: For obtaining a clearer image.
Off: Normal Image.

Page 30 on the C8470U manual.

Guys with the regular 847U, could you check it out and see what it says?

If I change the channel at times it will go back in sync. So, Sharp took me through the reset process and some service menus. That did not correct my problem. Today, I called back. The first Sharp technician told me that I should turn off my motion enhancement. I told him I should not have to do that to fix my problem and for the amount of money the TV costs that's not acceptable. I called back and talked another person and she told to try to swap out inputs. She told me I should not have HDMI 1 hooked to my Verizon FIOS box because it is an ACR input. My receiver is now HDMI 1 and FIOS HDMI 2. Not sure if this has corrected the problem. Have not been able to test it out. This is my 3rd TV in 3 months. The 810U and my recent 835U had no issues. Sharp replaced these for clouding issues.

Have you had any luck? If so it would be great to hear. Thanks!

I got my TV not too long ago and i had the audio and video sync issue with the TV native Netflix app watching Atlas Shurgged (sp).

It was more apparent half way into the movie and towards the end.

I did not notice it with the PS3 via HDMI watching lucking number slevin.

Is your firmware up to date? While I haven't watched a full movie or TV show through the TV, i've havent had any issues with lipsync over a Fat PS3 using a 1.4 cable.
