Can anyone tell me if you can get xfinity or hbo working with the internal browser?
I recently purchased the blu ray player and set everything up. But now I can't play the blu-ray movie please help....

Nvm I found out what I did. The blu ray disc was bad and was not loading correctly lol

I want to share my short experience with BD E6500
Excellent player however, if you are after web browsing, you are out of luck. The browser offered is not impressive, even clumsy. I have a particular interest in two sites, one uses silverlight, the other one flash. None of these are supported. Another hiccup is the memory, my attempt to watch a Shakira video has ended in 20 seconds with an error message "there is not enough memory". Although I did download only a couple of apps earlier. Two HDMI-in ports are very nice features though. Set up can be considered easy. My wifi connection stopped working in two occasions, I had to reset by unplugging the power.
I would love to hear your thoughts about my comments.

I tried rolling back to the initial factory settings, but it still wouldn't detect it.
Fortunately, it looks like Plex is coming out for this unit, as I already use Plex and DLNA. I didn't really want to install another media server.
Overall, the picture quality is really amazing. However, the app availability is well below, say, Panasonic, and I've also had problems with not reading a number of regular DVDs that my DVD players and computer read without any problem. I got it for free, and my initial reaction was to sell it and use the money to buy another player. I wish I had.
Hey boss, I ran the e65k hub update and NetFlix, Pandora, vudu and hulu are all running well.

...hey buddy, dont I know you from the es8000 thread? smile.gif M7 e65k plays 3d fine. Sometimes discs default to where you think they should not. I'd also check your 3d setup in the player first and also back at the monitor.

Hey Blade, good to see you here! I forgot to update my post:

After I tried again, the disc loads just fine (I did no adjustments to fix it). All good now. Looks like the problem has corrected itself.

I was gifted another 3D movie. Will try that out and see if the issue occurs again. Thx.

I meant the local streaming via DLNA. I haven't installed AllShare because I've got too many servers going for my CPU as it is. I'd like to just have the BD-E6500 stream via DLNA, which it did when I first bought it. The other apps continue to work fine.

Not sure if anyone saw this, but there's now apparently a FiOS app for the player, so that you can watch some FiOS channels through it and, more importantly, order on-demand movies (including free ones). We've been traveling so I haven't set this up yet, but more info is here:

http://www22.verizon.com/Support/Residential/TV/FiosTV/Other+Hardware/OtherDevices/SamsungDevices.htm

Plex is also available for this player now.

Now if they would just get an Amazon app and actually implement the promised Disc to Digital feature!

Need help on audio.
I purchased this unit last week and returned it due to voice and lips don't sinc together and the Digital output selection not working.
But the guy exchanged it for me and to try again.
The new unit digital output is working fine but the voice and lip sinc is still out. Can this be corrected?
Or is this anothe defective unit.

Thanks

I've had a couple problems with this player thus far "owned for 1 week". Lips out of sync as previously posted. About 10 times so far, I've experienced the whole picture turning to a purple/pink tint. The only way to resolve is change the source on the tv, then back. This only happens on the Blu ray player.

Sometimes when i skip forward in scenes, the audio dissapears, you only hear a faint whisper. If you wait 10 seconds, the audio might come back. If not, i skip back and forward again and it eventually comes back normal.

I'm taking this back for an exchange, but I'm seriously debating whether a blu ray player is worth $200. Wondering if a $100 sony will do the job just as good.

Hi all.

I have 51E6500 and have noticed when playing movies at relatively high volume there appears to be some low frequency speaker distortions from the plasma.

This appears when watching both sky or streamed video files.

I'm not connected to my amp yet as I only wall mounted last week?

Has anyone else noticed similar sound issues.

I have the sound setup on movie mode which locks out the graphic equaliser settings. It looks like only the standard setting allows graphi adjustment?

I think you have a bad unit - I never experienced anything you listed above.

Can this player stream Amazon Instant Video?

I agree with Eanglum, I think you have a bad unit and should exchange for another.

Regarding my audio sync issue, my second samsung unit still had audio lip sync , so I returned it. The sales guy kept saying its my receiver at fault and live with it. So I purchased a Panasonic to try out, well there was no audio problem, so its not my receiver. Then the sales guy agreed to exchanged my Samsung for another E6500.
After testing out several dvd's there are no more audio problem.

I think there must be a few bad batch of E6500 out there.

I did some research.

I have a Samsung UN46EH5300 and it does great with the Amazon app.

However, their Blu-Ray players are another story. They do not have the Amazon app. Here' a transcript from a chat with them two days ago:
Powell: Hi, thanks for reaching out to Samsung tech support. How can I help you today?
Visitor: A quck question:
Powell: Please go ahead.
Visitor: I have a Samsung Smart TV and it does great streaming Amazon Instant Video. But, I have older TV's in the house and want to make them "smart". Will Blu-Ray players like the BD-E5900 or BD-E6500 stream Amazon Instant Video?
Powell: I understand that you want to know if you connect Blu-ray player BD-E5900 or BD-E6500 to TV, if you can access Amazon app or not.
Powell: I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.
Powell: I'm sorry to inform you that Amazon app is not yet available for Blu-ray players. You can connect the player to TV and access other apps on the player.
Visitor: Do you know if the app will be added or if it will be included on the upcoming 7500?
Powell: I'm sorry, we don't have any information about it.
Visitor: Thank you.

I'd love to use their Blu-Ray player so I have a similar interface in both rooms but right now cannot.

You can get a list of all Instant Video devices from the Amazon web site. http://www.amazon.com/gp/video/ontv/devices#Bluray

So my final BluRay decision is coming down to the BD-E6500 or the Sony BD790...

What reason would sell me on the Samsung over the Sony?
Chris, we both have the unxx8000 tv. My e6500 has produced amazing 2d and 3d picture quality...vivid and razor sharp. Streaming via the e6500 smarthub has been smooth and glitch free. Visually the e6500 looks great with the un60es8000. I personally prefer the slot load method if feeding the player...that is huge for me. Pricing...i paid 160. ish after a price adjustment so I consider this player a huge value. The Sony would be fine I'm sure.

I agree, and the OCD in my wants to stick with same brands, but the top of the line OCD in me want get the very best. I'm sure I can't make a wrong decision here. What is the slot load method you speak of? Does the Sony not have this? Why is it so big for you? I like the price of the Sammy vs. Sony for sure.

Does the ES6500 have Amazon Prime VOD? The Sony does, not a total deal breaker but thats good to have for me.

I'm trying to decide if the Disc to Digital feature is better for me than the Amazon VOD...don't think so, since D2D charges me for all my uploads and VOD I'm already paying for with my Prime account. Sony seems to be winning at the moment in every feature but price.

Slot-load is where you just feed the disc into the player without a tray, like in a car. No Amazon that I know of at this time but it may be added via updates. I really like the quality of Vudu HD streaming on my 6500. Happy shopping.

You're not making it easy on me Bladerunner! lol...Did you just immediately buy the E6500 or did you consider others, what made you go with this BD player over others? The slot feed is one, I guess there is a reason for that? Your cabinet or something?

Samsung pic quality for bluray is always amazing. The style and slot load feature made it an easy choice when I bought my tv. I did consider panny and Sony but... The 6500 and 8000 are a great fit visually and performance wise..
Plus....now that I stream I am super glad it's with the 6500...i like the Sammy smaryhub via the player.

Don't tell the guys over on the Sony thread, but I'm probably going to go with the Sammy. Just makes sense. I can live with no Amazon Prime on it, its on my TV.

Not that it matters, but Consumer Reports rates the Samsung higher than the Sony. Oppo is top dog.

Oh yeah, wonder why it gave it higher marks, do you know?

Chris, the Samsung has better Bluray & DVD load times. And, the play button on the Sony doesn't work as the Enter button, so some discs cannot be played without the remote.

Ok, cool. thanks. I'm sure Ill be happy with that thing. $169ish is the price I've found on Amazon and Best Buy. Any other online retailers that I'd need to call who don't advertise lower MSRP prices? Seen it lower than that anywhere?

Is there a general consensus on which mode looks better while watching blu rays? Does anyone use the user, or does eveone just use the standard mode?

I think they have tweaked the "MOVIE" mode to some users settings.
I'm new to this player, just how do you tweak movie mode? It will only allow tweaks in user mode.

Sorry I mis-posted, thought I was on the LED TV thread...where they tweak the standard and movie modes there. I don't have this BluRay yet, so I can't answer your original question, sorry.
