Magic Remote can control cable box.
Fun thing happened to me today when I upgraded to 04.02.85 on my 55LM6700: I was prompted on an annoying pop-up to configure the Magic Remote to control my cable box, with only the options "To Set" and "Later" given. I chose Later, because I use a Harmony One and only use the Magic Remote to use the Netflix app or check settings. I was re-prompted, over and over again, until I finally gave in and configured it, figuring it couldn't hurt anything.
Except now, the My Apps/Quick Menu button first brings up a clunky set of cable box controls, and to see your Quick Menu you have to go to a small box in the upper right corner and click that to see your apps. Annoying mostly, but since the Quick Menu to get to Netflix is about the only thing I ever use the Magic Remote for and I couldn't find settings to disable the cable box controls on my own, I figured I'd call LG's tech support.
The rep said that the fix was to do a factory reset. I told her that: A. I found that hard to believe, and B. I'd spend a lot of time configuring the Expert picture settings. She swore that the Expert picture settings saved. So, against my better judgment, I went ahead.
She was wrong.
When I said that the Expert settings were also cleared back to factory defaults, she told me that she thought I meant that I wanted her help learning how to set Expert controls and she had planned on assisting me.
And naturally, I'm now back to getting the pop-up asking me to configure the idiotic Magic Remote to control the cable box.
