Why would loosening the screws void the warranty? Couldn't he just re-tighten them before the technician came out?

Hi all,

I'm new owner, is there a way/trick to watch youtube or flash videos in full screen (from the web browser)?
whenever I tried to click the full screen button, the button just disappear, and the video size doesn't change.

cheers

LG bought back my 55LW6500 set which at first I thought was a good deal. Only then do I find out that the amount I am given for credit is the wholesale cost of the TV, NOT what I paid for it. I paid $1800 after tax and was given $1200 credit at the store which I had purchased it. The store only handles the return and credit, it's not their decision on how it goes down. So the store then sells me a 55lm6700 at 'invoice' cost which is still $1500 after taxes (store gave me an extra $200, but I still had to pay $125). I didn't have the extra $500 at the time for the LM8600 and the store didn't carry the LM7600 model.

So that is how LG warranty rips you off. I tried to argue with them, but they wouldn't budge an inch. I emailed them expressing my dissatisfaction and never got a reply.

This new 6700 is probably worse than my old set was with the vertical banding. Except it doesn't have the 'fingerprint blotches' on the screen my other one had. Right in the middle of the screen was a bright blotch the size of a thumprint with several darker blotches in diffeent spots.

Just bought this TV(47" LG LM6700) from BB for 798.99 plus tax. After reading CNET and this thread I think I might have got robbed.

Hello, I have owned this TV for a few months now and I have no major complaints. However, recently it started popping up with this message telling me that the Terms and Conditions from LG have changed, so I proceed to click Ok, click Accept and all that, and immediately after I do that the Terms and Conditions thing appears again, and it all begins again...thus stuck in an infinite loop. The only way to get out of the loop is to turn off the tv and turn it back on, and the problem goes away for a while but it comes back eventually. The problem is that the Terms and Conditions message pop up prevents you from using any TV features, including changing inputs...Anyone else experiencing this? Please help!

I find that if you read the AVS forums for any television set you will end up feeling like you were robbed. AVS forum users are probably the most discerning users, and remember that people only take the time to post to forums when they are experiencing problems.

I have some light leakage in the top left corner of my television (47" model), but other than that the television is working flawlessly. It is light years ahead of the 2007 Philips I replaced with it. And it looks stunning in the living room. Then I was at my friends house who had a 46" Toshiba edge-lit television and the light leakage on his set was comparable. It seems like all edge-lit sets will suffer from this to some degree.

Your TV is the same as every other TV out there. Enjoy it and don't waste time worrying about problems other people are experiencing. It really is a very good television.

The settings are too dependent on the lighting conditions in the room as well as your own personal tastes; no one else's settings will work for you. You really just need to get a calibration disc (like WOW) and go from there.

Netflix on my XBOX looks fine for me, but that's just personal preference.

That is odd. One thing you could try is turning off automatic updates in your network preferences. That may help, but is just a guess.

It can be ordered from many online sites. I picked my up at Sears parts online for less than $20 shipped.

I too have that remote, better than the magic remote overall, though sometimes I will use the magic one.

I know you can set up several groups of Favorites (i.e.FAV) but the “Magic Remote Control” provided with the LM6700 doesn’t have a button to access that function.

In fact, it's kind of strange how difficult it seems to be to obtain one of these remotes. I didn't go the ebay route, as most of the sellers were overseas and I've had bad experiences with that. So I ended up ordering from electronicadventure.us

I purchased the LG remote AKB73615313 sold with the LM7600 for use on my 55LM6700 at Sears for about $12.26 plus shipping and tax. All function on the "Magic Remote" can be found on this one plus a few more. The FAV and FLASHBK work very well. Have not been able to get it to work with my LG 620 Blue-Ray player. Just received and I'm working out other functions.

Hi,

I just got the 55" 6700 on Sat, i was using HDMI to hook up to PS3 playing Bluray and also a HTPC, and i noticed the Real Cinema option are grey out for both.

Only after i changed the PS3 to 1080i and HTPC to 24Hz then only i can changed the setting, so anyone can tell me why's that?

Thx

What firmware are you running? I have TruMotion off and absolutely no soap opera effect with version 04.02.85.

A friend of mine just bought this from Costco (LM6400?) and he is not electronically inclined - not that I am either!

Nonetheless, I have in the past purchased a Sammy and a Pioneer Kuro and each of those has a settings page here, where techie guys had put together a break-in sequence of color frames (played for 72-100 hours) and - more importantly - a set of advanced, optimal user settings. The user settings really made a big difference compared to the 5-6 pre-set modes.

I tried the search mechanism here but this is the only page for owners. Anyone have any add'l info for advanced settings?

im not sure on how to get to the advance settings, but what i know is break in sequence is 70-100 hours of usage so that any ISF Professional calibrator can calibrate your set and they can also access to the service menu. if i were you, dont mess up with advanced menu unless u know wat are you doing. or hire a isf pro. for also best PQ result.

In the next firmware update for the 6700 series there is going to be a feature called "2nd Display" which will allow you to watch the exact same thing on your smartphone or tablet. Now if you could change the channel on your phone or tablet. now that would be awesome. But oh well.
Set your ps3 to bluray 1080p 24/p Real cinema should be enabled then. Real Cinema doesn't work for 1080i or 720p. ONLY 1080p 24

Why would that be weird? 04.02.85 is the latest.

Are you getting soap opera effect from other sources (cable box, blu ray, etc.)?

If not, I don't think you are actually experiencing soap opera effect in Netflix. Sometimes with Netflix fluctuations in your streaming speed can cause the picture to stutter and then speed up.

Hey. I had this same issue some time ago. I couldn't figure out how to fix iit but after some trial and error I fixed it. Just sign off of ur LG account and sign back on it'll ask u to accept terms and conditions one more time and thst should be the last time.. It should fix it.

My 1st post.

Just gotten the 55LM6700, just a simple home owner, thus cant find much faults with it yet (previous was a 2010 40" Samsung LED)

I watch my EPL matches via sopcast on my Macbook. Can i enjoy the same benefit on my new LG telly?
Or at the very least, how do i stream it over to the LG.

wink.gif

Thanks in advanced.

I had this problem after the last update. Signing out of that LG account corrected the issue.

Hi guys,
This is my first post and english is not my native language but i want to contribute to the community with a so long desired solution for LG 42/47/55LM6200.
this journey begins with a not so good idea from LG....yes that one "YOU CANNOT PASS DTS" through your TV if you are on america due to licenses issues/fees/etc, etc, etc. so....
Solution Steps
1.- Upgrade your tv to the latest firmware (current 03.21.40 http://www.lg.com/us/support-product/lg-42LM6200 )
2.- Get/obtain a RCA control like this http://www.amazon.com/RCA-RCRN08GR-Device-Universal-Backlit/dp/B003EYV21K.
I believe that second step is the most important because particularly speaking we are not going to use RCA remote control for bringing on the EZ menu only. We're looking for an ADVANCED EZ menu.
3.- When you already have your new remote control use code 10856 for program and notice the most buttons won't be working (so please get your original lg remote control cause will become handy) push down button 2 to bring on the EZ MENU and then push down button 3 to bring the Advanced EZ menu (In-start will be there too) LOOK for NSU Mode OPTION and change it from user to engineer.
Explanation: why do we need NSU Engineering Mode? well quite simple...when your TV is in NSU E-Mode will be connecting to LG alternate servers to download new unreleased firmwares.
4.- Now go to your typical menu and look for new updates. Your tv will show that a new fimware has been found and available for download (firmware 04.82.02) please update your TV as fast as you can...... that's the key.
5.- After upgrade process has finished take back your RCA remote control and go to normal EZ Menu. This time options will be available for modifying and particularly speaking you cannot change country group but you DON'T NEED IT. Just look for AC3 EDID option and change it from PCM to AC3.
6.- Wait almost there….. well actually we are there we have DTS passthrough...but wait THERE'S A BUG. keep reading.
Take this in mind…. your DVR or HT will displayed effectively DTS sound but you won't hear a sound. For some reason (probably a beta firmware) you need to go to menu on your TV and look for sound options and change your optical sound output from automatic to PCM and then go back again to automatic after doing that full DTS 5.1/7.1 track will be detected.
Best regards, JF (rahaziel)

Be warned, I used this method (set NSU to engineering mode)' on my 55LM6700, it worked fine and I was able to load an engineering firmware upgrade, this worked fine for a month. Unfortunately I did not remember to set the option back to it's original setting (user mode) a subsequent update was released (4.11.05) message popped up on my screen about this upgrade and I went ahead and upgraded. Not remembering that my set was still in engineering mode. Long story short. This upgrade killed my tuner. I can scan for stations both ota and cable but can not lock on any. Looks like the firmware has a bug on the tuner section, and I am stuck on this firmware, I have searched the net for options to downgrade unsuccessfully. Everything else works fine on the set. How do I get LG to sort this out with the set having an officially unreleased firmware? My other option is to get a cheap external ATSC tuner meanwhile and wait hopefully for an engineering firmware upgrade that will fix this.

My 5-month-old 55LM6700 won't turn on as of today - when I try to power it on, the red power indicator light just starts blinking - there's no screen image, no menu, nothing. The only way to stop the flashing is to unplug it. Any idea what the problem might be?

I have this software update on my 7600 with no problem. I'm wondering if somehow the attenuation got turned on. It's a setting in the In-Start menu, System 1 #11 Atten RF Signal. Make sure it's set to off.

If not that you can try a manual install of the present software on the LG site. It appears you can not install an older version, but it's worth a try. (Using a USB drive - instructions are on the site)

The Atten RF signal setting was on. I set it off, but still no live channels. Got me wondering, during my panic to get a solution I may have interfered with some settings. Is there a way to getting everything back to default settings? something like a master reset. Also, out of curiosity does your IN START have the following entires as NULL? (circled in pic)

I had already tried downgrading via USB. It does not allow downgrading (even tried changing the firmware file name to reflect the current one).

Thanks for the help!!
