Can anybody comment on the gaming lag on this set and if I would notice it coming from an ST30. This looks to be an amazing TV and if the lag isnt there I am going to sell my ST30 for the LM6700. Also how is the picture quality, can you guys post some pictures? Any repsonses are appreciated, thanks kindly

dude the st30 is a freaking awesome TV. the PQ on the st30 is very very good, much better than the 6700.

im not a hardcore gamer, but i did play a few rounds of COD and it seemed fine on the 6700. i did test out the 5600 awhile back and i noticed the lag right away. i think the 6700 is much better than the 5600 when it comes to gaming.

the 3d on the 6700 is pretty freakin amazing.

i have not been able to test out the 3d on the st30 yet, because i do not have any glasses.

for 2D material, the st30 smokes this tv in every way. blu-rays look much more accurate on the st30, and even SD material looks better on the st30.

Wow, I wasn't expecting to hear that. So the ST30 looks better than the 6700 in every way? Is your 6700 calibrated as well? Maybe I'll just go for the ST50 then. Thanks for your response, it's appreciated.

Hi everyone. I just bought one of these TVs. I love it, but there is a little part on the bottom left and a little on the top edge that is brighter than the rest of the screen when I have a dark image displaying. Is this something that we just have to live with in these TVs? Or is it possible to get a model that has uniform blacks all around? It's strange I have never seen this in smaller LCD monitors, how can we accept this in a large expensive TV?

I bought it off Amazon and I do not know how good their replacement policy is on these.

Yes. BTW, there is no 1080p option.

This will sound crazy, but it worked for me. I have been through four LM6700's because they all seem to have flashing, or flashlighting, (which is what you are referring to). Last night I was looking closely at the area of flashing on my TV and noticed it changed when I touched it. Eventually I was able to almost completely eliminate the flashing by rubbing my thumb along the edge where it was.

all the tvs in our house is calibrated with the disney WOW disk, but not professionally. the 6700 is a good tv, but the st30 is a great tv, BUT like i said, i have not tried the 3d on the st30.

The 3d on the 6700 is really good. Blu-ray on the 6700 is pretty good as well, but i think the st30 is better. some of my friends think that i nit-pick, so something that i notice, may not be noticeable to you.

don't let me make the decision for you, definitely check out both tvs with your own eyes.

Does this TV only do 60hz cause every hd channel I put it on it says either 1080i 60hz or 720p 60hz. At the top of the screen if u move the cursor from the magic remote it tells u what its running. Please help me understand the Hz on this thing cause i have no adj like on the lw6500 or 5600. I read some talk where ppl said it basicly was a 60hz TV. Is this true? If so this will be the last straw on this thing and its going back. Thanks for ur help in advance...
TV or Cable boxes are broadcast at 60Hz. The info bar is displaying what the TV is receiving. It's normal.
LG is astroturfing over on the forums at arstechnica. Shady of LG, but still might buy this TV.
Correct me if I'm wrong anyone but I've never seen actual 120hz on any television. Sure there are tvs that are 120, 240, 480 or 600hz... but that's by means of adding frames (which in my opinion looks artificial). I always hear people saying "my tv is 120hz but every source says 60hz"... that's because things aren't broadcast over 60hz. Earlier in this thread there was a lot of talk about this issue and I think people don't actually know what they're complaining about. My cousin was actually sold very expensive HDMI cables because the guy at Best Buy told him they could carry 600hz... what a joke. A 10 dollar HDMI cable off amazon will do the exact same thing.

that doesnt really mean anything. that is just the tv showing what it's being fed. trumotion is just a frame interpolation algorithm. you work hard for your money, and if your not pleased with this tv, return it for something else. Trust me dude, i understand where you are coming from. you paid for the tv, and it should it should of had the option of tuning the trumotion settings.
to me it looks like a 48fps avisynth script that lots of people do with their htpc.

this was posted earlier by someone else:
It’s just a matter of time now until the first batch has TruMotion installed via software update. Not only did the gentleman who I spoke with know his stuff, but he gave deadlines and clear expectations of when we can expect an update – “By the end of May, if not sooner”. He suggested we keep checking as it could become available any day now.

In short, here are the highlights and specific details from the conversation:

1. If you buy a 47" or 55" with a May serial number the feature will exist. They come with a newer version of the firmware which includes the TruMotion settings.

2. If you have a TV older than late Apr/May (Mine has an early Apr serial number) a web released update will be available no later than the end of May.

3. There is no need to worry about hardware compatibility. The newest batch and first are hardware identical. The problem is simply a software oversight and resolved with the update.

I hope this helps. If you’re at all like me, you love this set! I’m looking forward to being able to tweak the dejudder settings and TruMotion processing.

i dont think you are wrong. as far as i know, nothing is broadcasted at 120hz, and i dont know of any source (like blu-rays) that output at 120hz.

Anyone looking for the home and the my apps button for the harmony remote can add the lg 47lm860v as a device. I have tried it and it works.

I really appreciate the response. Would you mind taking pics of the same scene on both TV's? I knew the ST30 was a great tv and I understand plasma contains inherently better picture quality, but every time I see these LEDs they just look so sharp and clear. Don't know what I'm going to do now but again, thanks for the response!

There's a ton of complaints in the ST30 threads (and numerous Panasonic threads, actually) about burn-in, even temporary just from playing games and stuff. That turned me away.

There's also complaints from a lot of people about some kind of faint line through the screen.

I was wondering if anyone has wall mounted the 47lm6700 and how it went. The speakers sticking out on the back seem like they might make slim mounts a tight fit.

I had been concerned about the depth and whether I could remove the bottom speakers as well. The entrance to the room where this is wall mounted is on the side of the TV, so keeping the depth as shallow as possible was a primary concern of mine. I ended up getting the Monoprice #5918 ultra-slim mount (0.75" depth) with my 55LM6700, and this mount sits completely in the "shallow depth" part of the set (i.e. above the speakers), and when mounted there is a small amount of clearance between the speakers and the wall. Bottom line is with this mount there was no need to remove the speakers, so I didn't even try.

Also, things are *tight* behind the set. I had originally installed a recessed receptacle for power (Leviton 689-W), but the plug on the power cord that came with the TV had nowhere near enough clearance to come out of the receptacle and bend over quickly enough with this mount, nevermind the fact that I would have had to coil the cord somewhere (did I mention it was tight?). So I ended up burying a box in the wall and plugged into that - I was also able to push some of the power cord into the wall (bonus). And don't even think of any kind of keystone jack plate for hdmi/other cables, you pretty much need to have them come out parallel to the wall (I used a DataComm 45-0002-WH plate and the mess of cables came out fine).

to be honest i never notice any burn in on the st30. i did have an older samsung plasma that would get IR after hours of gaming, but it was never permanent.

if you look into ANY tv threads, you will always find people complaining about something. even in this thread people complain about light leakage, but this never happens on a plasma. some people complain about the gaming lag on led tvs, but that should never a problem on a plasma.

this is a 2012 model, and theres a whole thread about this tv not even having the option of adjusting the trumotion options. theres no low/medium/high settings, and there isnt even an option to turn it on or off. in panning scenes, it still judders.

well i only have an iphone camera, and with this camera you probably wont see any difference in picture quality.

like i said, this tv (6700) is a nice tv, but if you are super picky, especially when it comes to details in dark scenes, the st30 looks better. i know people that wont see a difference and tell me that i am just nit picking.

all i can say is get the Tv that you want. you work hard for your $$$ and should get the tv that you like.

My TV sits higher up on the wall, so I am looking for a good way to be able to have it tilted down about so that I am viewing it straight on from the couch. I suppose I could go with a regular low-profile mount and put an angled block between the mount and the wall. I was wondering about whether the speakers/plastic housing are removable or not, because they will be the thing that hits the wall first when the TV is angled down. Any thoughts from anyone?

I have the 55LW6500 and am using the supplied USB wireless stick. My TV is on level 1 of my home and my router is on level 3 and I have no issues with speed. I get about 7-15 Mbps on a 20Mbps connection.

I'm using the following router Linksys E4200. Try getting a better router. My parents use a TrendNet Wireless N router and they get half the range that I do.

The 2012 LG models including the LM6700 models have built in wifi. There is no USB wifi dongle stick. I use the built-in wifi on my 47LM6700 TV and it works great. I am able to connect to youtube and Netflix just fine and I even downloaded a firmware update over wifi without any problems.

Yea i have come to love this tv very much i have only owned lcd tvs so when i got one that lots are compairing to a plasma as far as brightness it took me a min to get used to it but i have come to like it very much. To the other guy, im not complianing about the tv i was simply asking what that ment, the 60hz, i kinda was thinking that it was what the cable was putting out but i wanted to be sure cause it just seems lg put a little less into this tv vs the 6500 i had. back to the truemotion, alot of ppl dont like the truemotion because of the SOA but i found a perfect setting with the blur and djudder to where it would not have that but would improve lag in fast scenes very much so i cant wait for the update it will complete the set, well and when someone finds the code for the service menu i hear its a certian remote u have to use with the code but who knows, that will def complete it. Thanks for the replies brothers...

The settings aren't very forgiving and you can't simply crank up the
brightness,backight,contrast etc..unless you want blown-out
whites, crushed blacks or a jaggy washed-out mess..Good news is I managed to get a great picture eventually

Here are my settings which are tweaked settings from one of the sites
mentioned earlier.these worked very well for me.

Below are settings I use for most content including movies.
If interested in a mild dose of SOE, change "Color Temp"="medium", reduce "color"=48.
(note order of settings below are different than order on actual tv menu...I used template from other site and replaced numbers with my own)

Energy Saving OFF
Picture Mode ISF Expert 2
Backlight 60
Contrast 80
Brightness 54
H Sharpness 30
V Sharpness 30
Color 54
Tint G6
Super Resolution On
LED Local Dimming Low
Dynamic Contrast OFF
Noise Reduction OFF
MPEG Noise Reduction OFF
Black Level LOW
Color Gamut STANDARD
Edge Enhancement Low
Color Filter OFF
Color Temp WARM
GAMMA 2.2
Method 2 Point IRE
Pattern OUTER

Color Management System White Balance:

Saturation,Tint,Luminance
Red 1, 5, 2
Green 3, 6, 0
Blue -10, -8, 2
Yellow -2, -1, 0
Cyan 3, 8, 1
Magenta -3, 0, 0

I'm using almost these exact settings and I like it so far. The only difference is sharpness which is set to 20 for me. Thanks for posting them.

I was considering purchasing the 55 inch model and was wondering if the overall picture quality is up to par. 'Appreciate any feedback.
Nevermind. I just came across this cnet review and I guess the answer is no. Quite a shock that it's a huge step back from last years LW 5600 series. Back to looking at the Panny Plasmas as they have been the ones to beat so far this year.

Hmm that's concerning. Why is there such a stark difference between that and the televisioninfo.com review? I wonder if they're just loving the 3D or maybe some promotional support from LG. Just weird.
