btw, do you guys recommending turning it off? thats the first thing i did

Thanks for the update. Hopefully this update hits the USA soon. I recommend turning it off when you are not watching material that does not require Trumotion like just regular TV shows. Turn on Trumotion when you are watching movies or sports.

The energy guide on my plasma was $65/year. You are spending $1700 on a tv and you are concerned about $30 vs $60 a year?

The energy guide on the 47LM6700 is $10 a year @5 hours a day. And a lot of people spent nowhere near 1700 on their TV. To each his own though... Panasonic does make great plasmas.

Plus, the LM6700 has local dimming, which helps. I also prefer passive 3D tech for cost and convenience reasons.

the 3d on this set is reaaly nice, but if you watch more 2d than 3d the plasma has better PQ in my opinion.

is it just a on/off option, or can you choose settings such as low, medium, and high??

What I'm wondering is if our TVs even had Trumotion in the first place. I definitely do not notice any type of smoothing in motion. In fact, panning scenes are so jittery I can't even see what is going on in these scenes. I'm hoping whatever they do to add this option makes watching movement actually watchable. I don't have this issue with gaming, just video for some reason.

I'm finding the image is super contrasty (blown out whites) when I'm using my XBOX 360 over HDMI. This makes Netflix stuff impossible to watch at times. Does anyone have good recommended video settings for XBOX 360 over HDMI?

Otherwise still really happy with this TV.

Thanks

Go to the settings page on your 360 and look at the display panel. The reference levels make a big difference. I have mine set to Intermediate and HDMI Color Space set to Source. My settings are

ISF Expert 1
Backlight - 89
Contrast - 81
Brightness - 50
Sharpness - 0
Color - 70
Tint - 0

Dynamic Contrast - off
Super Resolution - off
Color Gamut - BT709
Edge Enhancer - off
Color Filter - off
Gamma - 2.2
Color Temp - medium

Noise Reduction - off
MPEG Noise Reduction - off
Black Level - low
LED Local Dmming - low

I know there's a screen share option but you need WIDI of wifi direct... which apple products don't have

Thx for reply. I'll try when I buy it, and if I manage to do something I will post here. How are you satisfied with motion performance. Do you watch many sports like basketball or golf, with lot of cam panning?

thinking of returning mine, minor flashlighting issues, but TONS of glare issues.

which plasma did you get?

I am looking for something in the 1000-1200 range that won't have much glare.

I got the LG 60PA6550.(6500). Got it for $999. It does have glare though. Not an issue for me since I am in a light controlled room. I gave up on 3D because the active 3D in my opinion isn't as good as the passive but all plasmas are active. Didn't want to spend the money on the 3D if I was going to be disappointed in the quality. I don't know of any plasmas in that price range that are anti reflective.

I assumed you had the 55 inch. If not, you can probably find the LG 50PM9700 in that range. It has a matte anti reflective screen. I needed 60+ inches.

Has anyone had a problem with the Facebook app. I cannot get it to connect, I go online like it says and enter the activation code and it says "cannot connect to log TV at this time try again later" or something like that. I can go online with the browser and log in and it works fine its just the built in app that won't work and it would be nice to have the app. If you have had this problem and found a solution please let me know what you did to correct it, thanks...

Saw the (very negative) CNET review and maybe I'm in the minority on this - but I just didn't see where the LG had inferior PQ to a similarly priced Samsung LED LCD. Personally, I liked the LG better and just had to ignore the CNET review. Maybe I should reconsider - but a blu-ray that I watched today on my 47LM6700 looked pretty spectacular.

Of course, CNET is in love with Panasonic plasmas - but in my non expert opinion - if the TV is going to end up in a room where you can't control the lighting - which is the case for at least some of us - then a brighter LED LCD display seems like the better choice. I suspect that the blu-ray that I watched today in the middle of the afternoon - with the Arizona sun lighting up my living room - would have looked somewhat washed out on a CNET editors choice ST50/UT50 Panasonic plasma.

Any opinion on these settings for a room without well controlled lighting (i.e., one with windows)

Picked up a 47LM6700 yesterday after returning a SONY 55NX720 because of the crappy 3D. The guy in BB said they literally came in yesterday and that I had good timing. I got the 47" LM6700, I had a 47LW5600 before and this set is almost the same except the tiny bezel. One grip so far, I cant seem to find the TruMotion options on this set are they disabled?

This set also suffers from the vertical bands the LW5600 had but the excellent 3D outweights this factor.

A few pages back it was found the trumotion setting is being addressed via software update.
Still no software update. Was hoping for it by now

I got bored and started chatting some LG reps about this issue and I got some interesting replies (I'm not at home at the moment so I haven't tried any of these except for #1 which I tried yesterday):

Rep #1: Need to reset TV. Turn off TV, unplug, hold power button for 30 secs, plug in, turn on

Rep #2: Need to reset TV settings via options (Reinitialize I think is the option name he said)

Rep #3: Check TV's sleep settings, maybe it sleeps after 2 hours

Rep #4: LG recommends the TV be connected directly to the wall power outlet, If the TV must be connected to a surge protector, ensure the surge protector is not overloaded with other devices. This could cause the TV to power down.

Now the first 3 sounded kinda stupid. But #4 got me concerned a bit. I have a Belkin PureAV right now. Any of the user's that's experiencing this issue using some sort of surge protector? Any one using a surge protector that is not getting this problem?

There was someone who talked to LG some pages back and they said a software update by end of May. They have about 1.5 weeks left to get it right.

I want to post a picture of my flashlighting to see if it is normal - I notice it only on splash screen.

Like say when I launch NetFlix - the screen will flash to black before it loads, and this is where I see the flashlight.

I don't see much even when watching something with black bars.

What is the best screen to snap a photo of to see if what I have is normal, or needs to be replaced.

I bought from Amazon and have until 6/4.

Should I just go to an HDMI input that isn't currently being used?
Anyone else have the video freeze up while streaming? It's not a connection issue, it's connected by ethernet and works just fine, at least for the first couple hours. After a couple of hours it suddenly stops and acts like it needs to buffer, but never comes back, even after exiting the app and restarting. This happens with both the Plex streaming and Netflix. The only solution is to turn the TV off and back on.

I'm afraid I may have to exchange it, which would be a pain, so I was wondering if it's just me.

I have my 55 LM6700 since yesterday and I can´t be more happy with it.

The best 3D that I ever seen. I had a Sony EX725 and I thought that 3D was awfull but was TVs fault.

Now Im watching all over again but in the right way.

The only cons are blacks not that black unless I use bias lighting and some backlinght bleeding from corners. Also the menus used with the new remote that I find hard to dominate.

The rest is great. Amazing quality, great response, nice viewing angles and great style of the base and thin bezel.

Everyone that has view this tv in my family can´t believe the quality of the image.

Now I need to search for a nice calibration and just enjoy all my 3d content all over again.

thumbs up for LG with this tv.

Is anyone else experiencing some banding and poor screen uniformity? I do not notice it during normal viewing, but anytime watching soccer (especially when the camera pans) I see some light banding in some portions of the TV (47LM6700). I see where others have commented they have seen it, I am just not sure how much is "acceptable" and could perhaps be fixed by LG.

Unfortunately, I am past the return date, but I am enjoying the quality of the 3d on this set very much.

Should I contact LG Support?

You could try pausing during a dark scene. I tested this out using the pilot episode of the walking dead on netflix.

You could also use the image viewer on the tv which will leave plenty of black border around an image for you to see flashlighting. You could even use a black image as well.

I have some very light flashlighting on one side of the screen in the middle, but I am not sure if this is normal or not.
Here goes it.

I love this TV - the picture is amazing, I can only notice the flashlighting during dark scenes. I have 2 weeks left with Amazon so swapping it out is easy. I want to keep this TV because I don't think I can find much better for what I paid - 1000$

This is just on an opening credit to Green Lantern.

Some shots in 3D others without, notice the top corner, and just all over.

Is this normal?

LG reps are idiots and have no clue what they are talking about.

Mine does this to a certain extent. I also see it differently if I look at the tv from a different angle. It is not strong enough for me to notice it if I am watching tv in the daytime.
