Is the bezel silver or clear on these sets? I cannot tell from the picture. Why could they have stuck with black like the rest of the set.

then it could just be the brightness limiter. all plasmas have this, my d6500 does and it is annoying but i've sort of calibrated it out for the most part. Even with the fbr patch it still happens semi often. the only plasma I haven't seen it on is the Kuro Elite where it is unnoticeable.

I've read about the 929 having 30ms of input lag on average; which is just this side of acceptable. I suppose if your gaming habits are more casual than it should be fine. My brother has a 55' Toshiba LED; it probably has 30-35ms of input lag according to what I found online. I remember playing with it and being able to compensate for the lag, but it was always something weighing me down. Casual playing should be fine overall.

That's a pretty liberal return policy, wherever you got that set.

I had the 929, but ended up returning it and am waiting for the VT50 to come out.

The lag was very noticeable on the TV. A lot of the games I played just had a sluggish feeling to them and it was noticeable that a delay was occurring. I was excited a demo came out for a game I was looking forward too and it was simply awful playing it on that TV. It just felt so sluggish and I attempted to convince myself that maybe the game just was not as good as I had hoped. Fast forward a week later, played the demo again on my Sony CRT HDTV and had a absolute blast. Everything felt fast and very responsive. The worst was playing a fighting game on the 929. The input lag was so bad, even on easy in some fighters, you would struggle because the lag made it such a struggle to counter. I have a feeling the lag goes well about 30ms on the 929. This was all on game mode too.

I'm exited for the VT50 since I know it'll naturally be great for gaming and honestly, I can't say I'm going to miss that blooming on the 929. It was a lot worse that I was hoping it would be. It actually impacted some scenes in movies quite a bit visually.

Sweet Fry's has the 55 & 50 ST50 models on their website. Looking forward to seeing them in store soon.

I have a 55" ST50 on order from Panasonic's Friends and Family for a co-worker which was an unbeatable deal only bested by what they had on the ST30. He decided on the newer model. I've purchased hundreds of Panasonic commercial TV's. The only sets where I could get a 5 year warranty on TV's that need to last 8-10 years. I currently have the 46" GT24 floor model I bought at Costco and have been very happy with it. I started with a 42" ST30 but returned it because the plasma buzzing on whites was excessive and then I noticed the buzzing on all colors was a bug light which was not normal. The smoothness on the ST30 was noticeable compared to the GT24 which is my only regret.

The co-worker I'm buying for lives in an apartment with supposed light challenges so the improved filter will be welcome. Having seen/owned 2 previous bang for the buck Panasonic 3D plasmas, I should be able to pull together some decent comparisons. I ordered on Friday, so hoping for early to mid week delivery. I'll post when I have the opportunity to get it setup.

Input lag news? Its a plasma.....out of alll the techs currently out they have the lowest.

Just curious, why have you purchased hundreds of TV's? Are you a distributor?

I am torn over both the ST50 and GT50. I have other THX comps, but do I really need a THX cert TV? Who has other Panny THX Cert plasmas and can help sell me on the GT? I kinda sold myself based on the official website but should I really do something like that? I tend to be picky but am done with LCD. Please help me decide...

PS... I am looking at the 55-60.

Tell that to my PN50B650 Samsung plasma, which requires enabling "Game Mode" for tolerable gameplay.

Try renaming your HDMI 1 port to PC for lower input lag. Works for the D7000.

Ohh great. Now I pretty much HAVE to sell my ST30 for a ST50. Thanks. I will wait till November so I can at least get a good deal on a 60" or 65". I was impatient with the 55ST30 and bought one before the prices came down very much. Thanks for posting the review.

I am involved with purchasing TV's for my job in hotels. I have to say that while I love Panasonic plasma TV's, and their LCD's are decent, they don't compete with Samsung. Samsung brings their high end sets into the commercial hotel market. Everybody else plays the low end though LG looks to be noticing Samsung's presence. LED backlit sets are just now getting more widespread in this market. It's all about volume at the lowest price. If I were to buy the commercial plasma sets from Panasonic I'd be paying well over the LCD market right now. I'd get much better sets, but unfortunately few people care in this industry. The consumer market is much more interesting when it comes to TV technology. Look at LG's OLED. Not made for the commercial market. Remember when everyone would buy the Panasonic business plasmas? Those are great, and Panasonic use to bundle those at very competitive prices for hospitality, but now they've diverged into LCD for hospitality due to price and energy usage. It's too bad because I wish I could just line up Panasonic plasmas or even their higher end LCD/LED backlit sets. I see Panasonic trying to move into a stronger position in the LED sets but will we see a strong push for Panasonic into OLED or other future technology?

I have been checking the web for availability details on the 60" ST50 and have discovered varying results. Originally the dates were late February, March-ish. Now I'm seeing predictions for May. Does anyone have insight on this? My basement is almost finished and I'm ready to mount a 60" as well as put it on the wall.

Then in a year from now, you'll be wanting to sell your ST50 for the ST60.

If you have a pretty flawless ST30 no way would I go out to get a minimum improvement set while running the risk of picking up some new flaws and having to play the swap game over and over.

Does anyone have any info on the st50s new speakers? I wonder if it really is some kind of an upgrade or just hype?

You have a point but I'm really wanting something bigger than the 55 I got. I may just get a projector but I wouldn't mind a 65ST50 if they are really that much of an improvement over the ST30. I think the ST30 has a really good picture for the price so I got pumped when I read the st50 review. I will wait till the end of 2012 before I do any upgrading so I'll have plenty of time to read reviews and see if there are any issues. I didn't have FBR or green/pink blobs so i am happy with the ST30 other than the size.

I hate reviews like that b/c I've never seen a single plasma that BLOWS everything else away(Kuro withstanding), sure it can be better but the BLOWS EVERYTHING ELSE AWAY part is always what leads me to disappointment when I finally get my hands on it. I'm like yea this is nice but its pretty similar to last year PQ wise.
