Wow! That sucks. Netflix work on everything else? All the other apps on the tv work?

I dont know what else to say. Hope that the next firmware update fixes it. But there may not be another one. The ST is getting old as far as Pan is concerned.
Buy a cheap wifi blu ray player with apps.

I have the tc p50st50 and am experiencing the power off, click, power on issue as well. The red light at the bottom never turns off. It's more of annoyance than anything, but considering the set is only a couple months old (I got it when Sears had its sale in March, I believe?), I will be contacting Panasonic about this. It has happened 2 or 3 times now. Sometimes I am watching tv (Time Warner cable box) and one time I was playing the xbox. At the time, I just chalked it up to hdmi handshake issue but after seeing previous comments on this thread, it may be something more. Anyway, like I said, Panasonic will be getting a call from me and I'll try to update this thread on what I find out.

I believe thats generally a power board issue. Should be an easy fix for Panasonic.

Thanks for your reply. I just got off the phone with the Viera Concierge Line (which I think is just the main support number). The rep had me go through a hard reset (Menu button on the remote + Volume Down button on the tv). I went through the first time setup again. I mentioned what you said about this possibly being a power board issue, but she insisted I watch the tv for a few more days o see if the issue comes back. At this point, I don't mind obliging since it is so early in the warranty period. I guess now I'll be watching like a hawk for the power off/power on issue to happen again. Yippee.

Recommend any in particular?

Is there a way to reset the tv? Gotta be a way to fix this.

My understanding is that on the 2013s you can uninstall and reinstall apps. Thats probably what you need but you cant do it on yours. You have no other Netflix capable devices in your HT?
Do you already have a nice blu ray player? If so you may want to look at something like a Roku XS.

I have a panny BDT-210 player but I don't think it has netflix on it. My xbox has Netflix (I THINK) but last time I tried it, it did not have options for closed captioning (must have cuz i'm deaf). I could hook my PC up to the tv but that would require a 30 foot HDMI cable and I don't have that.

There's seriously no way to fix an app that is malfunctioning on this tv? I can't reset the tv back to factory?

The 210 has Netflix and much more. Check it out and see if you can get CC.
A factory reset of the tv is worth a try. I dont know how to do it though. Contact Panasonic again.

I played around in the menu and found the reset option. Unfortunately this resets EVERYTHING so I have to change it all back to where I had it BUT it did reset netflix and now it's working!

I was told there were 3D movies on netflix so I wanted to try them out on the tv but there doesn't seem to be any option for 3D. It shows the movies in normal 2D, not 3D. Am I missing something?

Congrats!
Hit the 3d button on the remote.

I did and nothing happened. I also turned on and off the 3D glasses and nothing. It still showed it in 2D. So weird. When i normally turn on the glasses, it informs me they are on and the battery life but nothing during netflix video.

Try it on a different source. Make sure the glasses are charged.

One of the requirements for 3D/Super HD is that your ISP supports it. On Netflix's website, they can check to determine if your ISP supports 3D/Super HD. Also I read something that the Netflix app you are using has to have been updated to use 3D/Super HD.

My glasses worked when testing with Life of Pi 3D.

This is what frustrated me. I went to netflix's website and they have this page that is supposed to show the ISP's that are on board but it does not list anything. It takes you to another page that says click on this link for ISP's and then it brings me back to the same page LOL. So i can't figure out if Comcast is one of the ISP's or not.

Comcast isn't included yet, and knowing Comcast they probably won't be for a very long time. You'll have to be happy with streaming compressed HD from Netflix.

Will I have to re calibrate my TV when I get a receiver? Just running stuff straight into my TV right now, but getting a receiver soon.

No, unless you use the built-in features on the receiver to alter the picture in some way, which by default, they should all be off.

Why would you? As long as you are sending all your signals direct, you will see the exact same picture. If you want to use your receiver's 1080p up conversion, it could look better on HD/SD cable , depending on what receiver you go with, regardless of what you do, just always leave your receiver-bluray on direct.

Looks alright to me - plasma panels are never completely black unless they are off because the pixels each have a charge when the TV is on, even when the pixels are not 'on', as I understand it...

I don't know where else to go with this strange problem.

After setting my channels in my favorites list everything was working as expected. Then a few weeks ago I started noticing that some of the channel names on my saved favorite list (ABC, CBS, FOX, etc) began to disappear. The channel number would still be there, but the naming of the channel that I chose kept disappering and becoming a "---"

So I began to label them again. And again some, but not all, would go from ABC to "---"

I don't have cable/cable box so I use the Panny remote and my channels are QAM channel numbers. For example 109-2 NBC, 109-1 CBS, etc... So setting up the favs allow me to not have to type the entire channel number including the "---"

Any idea why my channel labels keep disappearing?

Mine does something similar. I named WXIX "Fox 19" a couple of times and eventually it will go back to the default "proper" name. I think its a source thing. As if the source programming takes precedent over the user chosen name or something. Just a wild guess.

Hi guys,

Recently got my ST50 from amazon. Love it of course but have seen that there is a certain revision of the board inside that can cause problems of which Banding was an issue. It is still within the first 30 days so I want to get it replaced if it is a real issue. I have an LG that has the same problem but its a few years old.

Can anybody confirm from these photos if this is a real prob or me just being picky.

After doing more research, others have the issue, but I just want to make sure that it's normal for a brand new (under 150 hours) panel.

Also when I am testing bright images or the wight or the light grey slides I can hear the buzzing that many have complained about. I will probably get a replacement shipped out just to see if I can get one without buzzing or see if after the first 150 hours of breakin if the buzzing fades. This one has faded somewhat but if the volume is down I can still hear it.

I have broken in the TV with DNice's slides and other than this I am loving the set. Any help before the end of the month would be greatly appreciated.

I have had mine for a year and it still has the banding issues. I didnt pay it much attention until it was too late to return it. No buzzing though.
Amazon is easy to deal with on returns if you have a defective set. I dont know what you paid but I highly suggest you step up to the ST60 if theres any way you can afford it.
I would love to but it is just too far out of my range.

Thanks.

If youre patient and keep an eye out you can get a 60ST60 for $1500. Ive seen them at that price several times.
