You settings seems fine. Downing the colour a bit might help because game mode in general is overkill. Don't mess with the color mode stuff keep,it as is. Fool around with the ps4 rgb setting use the one that you like. For the most part to should look basically identical anyways. Only thing I've noticed is full makes it look a little bit blurry to me, but who knows it's maybe because I'm crazy.

Back to your question I only use game mode because I play competitive multiplayer. When not playing multiplayer you really won't notice the lag on other modes, specifically on single players of games.

But to check your picture mode hit Menu > Picture > Picture Mode

I resolved the random switch off /on issue.  Plus the tv had lost the ability to 'see' my router so no iplayer etc :-(

I did a 'factory reset' and all is well now :-)

Thanks for your comments,

Just pm'd you but will post it here if anyone gets this issue. It could be a small percentages problem with ps4. (Launch console).

I have no idea what the issue with ps4 might be. I did hear there was an issue with ps4s and hdmi signal in a small percentage of ps4. Something .04 percent. Try and connecting other devices on that hdmi port, such as consoles, media player whatever, change your hdmi cable of you can. Try a hard reset, manual should show how, ps4 was holding the power down I think. If nothing works google this specific hdmi issue and contact sony. They will replace your ps4 if the issue is the ps4. Specifically the hdmi issue. I hope this helps.

It's not my PS4 it's the update from the TV. It was working perfectly fine up until 2 days ago when my TV updated. I can plug my PS4 into any other TV and it works perfectly fine. I also can hook other devices up to my TV and they work perfectly fine, just not my PS4 anymore. Was wondering did that happen to anyone else, and what's the fix?

Oh. Never heard of something like that it sounds odd actually. I can't help you, maybe someone else in this thread can answer that for him?

do you guys have sharpness at 0 for game mode on Xbox One and/or PS4? also, speaking of input lag, does having an AVR between the xbox one and TV also add to input lag?

Yeah I have sharpness to 0, ps4 is super crisp. If you have a x box 1 it'll be even more sharp, because the xbox artificiality sharpening on most games that are upscaled. Which is pissing me off, but some people will like it. Adding a avi is for certain to add a wee bit of lag but I don't use one. Difference between lag between game and other modes is minimal and I only notice it when playing competitive fps multiplayers.

I also now have sharpness set at 0 for the Xbox One.

Ryse still looks great. I completed that over the long weekend.

Finally popped in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, which doesn't seem like it is all that much improved graphically from Assassin's Creed III aside from the draw distance being better/less foggy, and the vegetation is enhanced. Not really a great reference image for comparing titles across platforms I don't think.

Still haven't played Dead Rising 3 again since last week. I have had a ton of fun with Ryse though, so that pretty much pulled me away for a time, and then i wanted to at least get my Assassin's Creed IV copy into the machine finally.

I think that: A) developers will opt to leave the scaler off in the future, B) it will be something that will be able to be disabled in the console settings by the user, or C) It will be improved upon greatly via a firmware update. If option C is what happens, I'd expect this to be updated in Spring 2014. We can't let this go though. It can be improved or corrected, we just have to continue talking about it.

65ST50 vs 65ST60, which one is brighter? Darker? Better colors?

The TV (I don't remember when exactly) stopped displaying black color properly.

It displays one pixel wide gark grey horizontal stripes, several pixels apart from each other scrolling on black background, instead of plain black.

This creates a dark grey color (similar to LCDs) from normal viewing distance.

The stripes appear in the black to ~ 5% grey areas.

It seems like it could be solved by some setting in menu, but I haven't found anything that affects it.

It does it in all inputs, even if all inputs are unplugged.

The TV is still under warranty, but I don't want to look stupid when a serviceman comes and solves the problem by 3 clicks on remote. smile.gif

Has anyone had similar problem? Thanks.

This is how black looks in dark room.

Sketch how it looks from close distance.

Was this fixed?

brigther? Most likely the st60, but it'll be minuscule difference. Darker? St60 probably has slightly better black, but the are. Both great. Better colours? Not sure. Depends on the user

Keep in mind if you game the st60 has way higher input lag

It just pisses me off that critics in the industry didn't notice this. Like seriously i spotted it immediately on cod after getting the ps4 a week early and having played cod there through first. They just say, "oh no noticeable differences, ps4 is just slightly better graphically garbage, sit far from your tv. " ryse looks amazing thought , thank god for crytek. We have to voice this yes, it's so easily correctable, MS has to hear people like us

Not yet.

I will fill an application form on Panasonic website to call a technician, when I will have a bit more free time.

I guess some board is faulty.

I see something similar to what you describe on both my ST50 and VT60. But you have to be in a completely darkened room to see it and, even then, you basically have to be right up against the screen. If those conditions are required to see what you've described, I'd say it's normal.

I'd offer to photograph it but it's way too faint to show up in a picture or video.

The stripes on my TV are visible from close distance no matter how well lit is my room. It makes black levels look even worse than my Samsung F2380 LCD 0,05 cd/m2.
Yeah, mine's practically invisible. Sorry.

Hi there. I returned to this thread to poke around as I've just started seeing this also. To be honest, the scrolling lines were always there, but very recently they seem to be raising the brightness of my blacks frown.gif There's an additional quirk in that there's often a faint, rash-like, randomized cloud of reddish dots in the background of a no-signal scene. Unnerving and frustrating as the deep black on this screen is its chief glory.

If it's only a couple of people who've seen it here, then maybe it's a fixable thing and not just the way it ages. The set should be under warranty through February... I guess I'll make some calls.
Im not seeing that.
I've been using my custom setting on the ST50 for both blu ray and PS3. I've been considering changing the settings to Game for my PS3 and leaving the blu ray as custom

What seem to be the preferred settings for the ST50 for this, or what are everyone's thoughts on where the color settings should be at (contrast higher, brightness higher/lower, etc).

Also, with regards to the PS3, what should RGB, Super White, etc be at for this? I saw some thoughts a few pages back but it was hard to understand what they should be at vs other platforms like PS4 or if the display settings on the ST50 were different

Hope this makes sense, any thoughts appreciated!
Those werent thoughts. They were specific instructions. Almost a whole page worth of discussion. Maybe you should try reading it again if you had trouble understanding it. PS3, PS4 and ST50 settings will be the same in that regard.
The post below is really all you need to know. Super White On.

The ST50 (or most Panasonic displays) support both ranges... the setting is called HDMI/DVI RGB Range in the picture/HDMI settings menu. Either set your PS4 to RGB Limited and Pansonic to Standard or Auto; or set your PS4 to RGB Full and Pansonic to Nonstandard. I recommend the latter whenever possible (ie it won't affect other devices that may share the HDMI input).

If you're seeing faint flashing red dots check your brightness setting. I've seen faint red dots on an a black screen before but they disappeared when I turned the brightness down.

Condescending comments over constructive feedback much appreciated, Bond.

Why use 30 words when six will do?

Super white on, see post below...I got it.

Hmmm I haven't had a proper calibration, but I did use the Disney WoW disc; it's weird with the contrast calibration and maybe this threw off my brightness, which is at 78. Hmmm.

I had to turn the brightness down to 50 on my set to completely get rid of the red dots. The red dots are just the plasma doing its dithering thing to raise the black level. You shouldn't need to have the brightness higher than 50 anyway to keep the plasma from clipping black.

Im good. Thanks Savior. Just figured a page and 1/2 over 3 simple settings should be enough for most people to figure it out.
