Beats Audio, what a joke...?

I was recently mulling through some forums for on of my other expensive and time consuming hobbies when I came across a phone MOD that added Beats Audio Algorithms to phones Custom OS.

Now most of us have seen the commercials about beats audio and how "Wonderful" they make it out to be. Well, I saw a pic with some side by side comparisons of the changes this little algorithm makes. Here are the screen caps of a quick frequency chart reading.

BEFORE

AFTER

Maybe I am just reading this wrong but to me it looks like it just runs the bass output hot through artificial amplification.

Am I wrong? anyone else have any thoughts.

Way over priced imo... I think of Beats like I do of BOSE and Monster Cable. Some guy I work with has a pair and they don't sound that good to me. You could get a pair of cheap sennheisers and crank up the bass and it would sound better imo.

This is your first post...? Lets' try to be a bit more convincing on the next one if you want to be taken seriously. It's designed by audio pro's for audio pro's ..... just take a second to think about that.

I thought the second post was a joke post, but look at the sig, obviously a spammer.

What the hell have you been smoking, far from any reference headphone. I'll second mannoiaj's point like bose as they're overpriced and any headphone that has bloated or excessive emphasis in any part of the spectrum is not reference. Typically the term reference headphones refers to headphones that are used as a reference point for judging other headphones (which the beats are not used for this). It can also mean headphones that are accurate enough to be used as a tool by audio engineers to mix/master recordings and to the best of my knowledge not even Dr. Dre uses them for that

BTW I paid less for my Sennheiser HD650 when I bought them new (a few years back) and I wouldn't consider them "reference" headphones but IMHO much better sounding with a warm and wide soundstage that blows the bloated sound signature of the beats sound away

I think that SPAM poster, slightly derailed the thread. I was trying to get opinion on the Beats Audio algorithms added that effect all sound coming from the phone. Since the MOD I adds the Beats Audio algorithms to the phones as part of a custom ROM.
I have heard many people saying how much better it makes their music sound but from the charts they show it seems to be all artificial adjustments that would color the sound too much.
Any thoughts on that.
Also feel free to comment on the Beats headphones as you already have, so far I cannot agree more with the comparison to Bose.

While I’m not a phone buff or expert and prefer a portable DAP running rockbox for my tunes on the go, there are several apps that I’ve read about lately that help a user play and tweak their sound from their phones. Several android and iphone apps are available now and I’d guess some of the users here are using some. If not, you could search for them or check anythingbutiphone as I’ve read about many there. I would venture to say that these will allow you a more pleasurable listening experience than what you posted ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪

If you want me to make a specific recommendation, I can check with a friend of mine on IRC that tests some of these but like I said, I'm not using any and I'm not expert in this field. BTW I agree with you're point that poster is a spammer

Edit: BTW if it’s pc listening you do (like me at home) there are some great VST plugins that will blow this dre thing away
Edit2: EQu and Audio DSP & EQ Plugin are two that many have high praise about (1 for iphone and other for android).

Well, your analogy is pretty good 'cause I think they are made by Monster, all show no go.
