I don't understand tax write offs. Spend $100k, write off $100k and get $33k "back" by not having to pay taxes on it... but you still spent $66k. It's nice to have 1/3 off if you enjoy what you're buying, but I don't understand why people spend money just for the tax write off.

Question: what would you pay for DCI content and what about DCI spec is important to you? And would you need it in "early window" or would you take it at the same time as BD release?

Oh, it definitely jives for me . They easily have $100 K in projector and screen alone. Then add an audio system for another $100K. Then you have theater design, installation and acoustics. Say $50K for that. You have seating, carpets, etc. Another $50K. And we are up to $300K and we have not talked about all the bling, etc. Getting up to half a million is not hard at all. And if you scale up the size even more, then going up from there is not hard either.

I'm sure they enjoy it. But for movie execs, perhaps $66K is like $66 for you and I.

Day and date/or early window not important to me at all, I would like better than bluray quality, better color, less compression. I would like the content delivered via download for blu ray release date, on my server .. I would like option to rent or purchase. For this I would pay a premium over current rates of bluray.

Most things up in that price range deliver the "bang for your buck" that the majority of people expect but then again, those people have more bucks. One could make the same claim that a rolls royce doesn't offer the bang for the buck over a lexus but that isn't really the point.
