Denon 2112CI or Wait for 2013 Models?

I'm looking at buying my first AVR and was saving up to possibly buy the Denon 2112CI. My question is now that it is so close to May/June should I wait for the 2013 models? Thanks!

I would if you can wait to see if there will be new feature(s). if not, the 2112 should be cheaper by then.

I haven't heard anything about 2013 Denons. Are you sure they're going to have a new lineup this year?

They have a new lineup every year! Denon doesn't start putting them out until April or May and the rest throughout the summer.

The highest end 4xxx models may not get replaced but all the others generally do.

Really depends on whether you want to hold off another 3-4 months for the 2113CI. Seeing as the 2112CI is already offering MultEQ XT that's about as good as it will likely get for that model for several more years.

Thanks for all your opinions so far! I'm leaning toward waiting another month or two and seeing what the new features will be. Does anybody know how soon after the 2112CI came out that EE and JR were discounting them?

not sure what you are looking for discount-wise, but it's pretty rare for anything at this level to sell for full msrp, even on release date...

Yes they do, but incrementing a number by one isn't the same thing as a new lineup.

That is a good price. My dilemma is that the 2112CI could be bought for $449 - $500 shortly after it came out. I think I will probably wait until they at least announce if/what changes will be made and the price for the new model. I would hate to buy something now and regret it in less than a couple months.

I am in the same boat. Get the 2112ci or wait for the 2113. Though, I have two JBL ES80s on the way and no receiver. Do you guys know about how much the price generally drops on previous years model when new lineup is announced?

Actually the 2112 was 399 the first week it came out. You can check out the xx12 owners tread and see all the people who ordered them in the first week. I think it was because the list price was cheaper and then it went up 50$ so EE bumped the price up some but the 2112 has always sold for under 500 since it first came out.

Hard to say .... could be $50 ... could be more ... there are too many factors to consider .... how many of the older models does the vendor have in stock when the newer model arrives, whether the MSRP is the same, whether the older model offers features the newer model no longer offers, etc.

I like what the Denon 2112CI currently offers. I just don't want to get in a situation where they make big improvements, for instance such as including a better version of Audyssey and it costs about the same.

Not likely to be major improvements other than perhaps adding a video chip. The version of Audyssey MultEQ XT will remain. Only question is whether XT32 moves down to the 3313CI (but that's as far as it would go down).

Fry's had the 1712 for $227 last week. I went in thinking it was the 1912 (no model # in the ad) and would have bought. The 1712 has no networking, but the price was great.

Count me in...

Even I am waiting for 2113 model to roll out so that 2112 model will be cheaper.
Any additional "MUST HAVE" features in 2113?

Will it be out before June 15th?

I was talking to some online dealers, and they had the 2312 for about $50 more than the 2112. I'd consider getting that model.
