Saw this thread elsewhere and thought it's be interesting to see your choices:

Me:

Civilization 2 PC Easily my all-time favorite game
Baldur's Gate / Icewind Dale PC (have to combine those)
Combat Mission PC Amazing WWII tactical game
post #2 of 69
Demon's Souls
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Mario 64 almost took this spot)
Counter Strike

All 3 rocked my world when they came out.

Wow, this is tough. There have been so many, I may have to go kind of Old School.
I'm thinking of the games that I became totally absorbed with and played for months.

Total Annihilation (This was the peak for me and RTS).
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Demons/Dark Souls.

Honorable mention:deus ex human revolution (I didn't play it for months, but good action/stealth/production quality balance)

1) Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Subsistence

2) Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

3) FIFA

1. SOCOM - the first one on the PS2.
2. Battlefield 2 - on the PC.
that's it. I've played nothing else for as many hours as I played those two online multiplayer games.

Age of Empires 2 (PC)
10,000 hours + into that game, just wish it worked properly on modern hardware...

Pokemon Red
Got me back into gaming after almost 5 years.

Metroid Fusion
I still try for a sub 1 hour speed run on occasion, got a 1:01 time and it crushed me.

1) Worms: Armageddon - I am named Wurms because LONG AGO I played Worms on PC, then I got on AOL and the name "Worms" was taken so I used Wurms. Worms: Armageddon is the best version of the game ever released. I was a ninja rope junkie and took pride in my skillz

2) Nobunaga's Ambition (NES) - Probably put more hours into this game than any game Ive ever played. My brother and I would actually take turns sleeping while the other person plays his turn, then wake the other person up when its there turn. This went all weekend long. Romance of the Three Kingdoms III (Genesis) is runner up, but it doesnt have Ninjas you can send out to assassinate peeps.

3) Goldeneye 007 - If you were in college in the late 90's then you had or knew someone who had this game. I had the game, and every night we had Goldeneye Tournaments with the entire floor of my dorm. You win, you stay, the other three get replaced. It was all for bragging rights and went for hours.

All Saturn games:

1) Dynamite Deka (Diehard Arcade). They actually made some weird sequal to the game I saw in an arcade in Tokyo a few years back. You had to fight some weird rubix cube dude, it was tripped out!!!

2) Layer Section II

3) Marvel Super Heroes vs Capcom

There are so many more favorites on SS (especially shooters, my favorite genre), but if I have to only name 3...I love Saturn so much I have 3 consoles stockpiled. My original modchipped Japanese white one I got in '98 is still perfectly operational after thousands and thousands of hours use. Even the video card for VCD still works! Only thing is when that console dies half my collection goes with it coz they're all bootlegs!

Tough question to answer.

King Arthur´s World, (SNES): An amazing adventure, my first strategy game, and I got hooked to that genre (and started to like classic music).

Age of Empires 2 (PC): I consider this as THE strategy game, I still play from time to time against my friend (not recently, don´t have PC at home), still remember that 20,000 dead toll each side (6 years ago), I won only because my friend ran out of resources, I was almost in the verge of the defeat too, epic battle.

Close Combat V (PC): Had to choose between Close combat III and V, Chose V because online game was more fun, the game´s AI really sucked, my dog could play better than it, but against a normal human being the game was EPIC.

Had to stop playing because I got to the point where I could go 7 vs 1 on the highest ai setting and win without any real effort. Years of not playing has made me increadibly rusty.

Metal Gear Solid (series)
FIFA
Elder Scrolls (series)
Street Fighter IV
Super Mario Bros. 3
Half-Life - cheating here because of Counterstrike and Team Fortress Classic.
Pretty easy for me to pick a top 3:

Metroid
Super Mario 64
Assassin's Creed

But the next tier down would get pretty tough.
this is easy -- goldeneye 64, the first super mario bros on the nes, and metal gear solid on the ps1.
Choosing only 3 is absurdly difficult, but the ones that come to mind are:

Robotron 2084
Guardian Heroes
Grand Theft Auto III

- Elite on the c64
- Wasteland on the c64
- Ultima 6 on the PC
Baseball all stars - original nintendo
Tecmo bowl - original Nintendo
Mortal Kombat
In order:
Kaboom - Atari 2600
Midi Maze - Atari ST

Anything beyond those two gets hard. Our family probably has more time with the Rock Band franchise than anything else.

Really hard to pick just 3.

1. World of Warcraft
2. Street Fighter (I am going to cheat a little and just list the series)
3. RTCW - Purely for nostalgia reasons, however I still think it's one of the best and underrated multiplayer FPS's ever made
post #29 of 69
SSX Tricky (ps2)
Super Dodgeball (NES)
Uncharted series (ps3)
I forgot to give honorable mention to "Crisis Core: FF7" on the PSP.

Best possible ending you could have given the fact that you know you will be killed at the end.
