How to put Hi-Rez 24/96 tracks in proper track order

This is a function of the device you are using, or of a DNLA server software.

With that type of sorting, you'll need to re-name the files to "001", "002", etc.

That's going to be a "feature" of the server software, and it's probably using something other than the file names for sorting. (tags, etc). After re-naming them be sure to re-scan the server library. From a USB drive, the player should list them correctly.

You could try opening the files in Foobar or some other tool for naming and tagging and see how they look.

All I can tell you is that tracks with similar names are listed correctly here with the BDP-93. They have names: "01 track01", "02 Track02", etc.


Just noticed, that should be 001, 002, 010, 011. Not 0010, 0011.

Actually, it should be:

01 Name of first track
02 Name of second track
....
10 Name of tenth track
11 name of eleventh track

The sorting algorithm will "see" the 0 column digit first (the one in base ten that would be for 10s), then look at the 1 column digit, for two digits (there is no reason at all to make them three digit numbers unless you have over 100 tracks per album; why make it harder than it needs to be? Every digit you add just increases the chances for user input error, like we see by the OP here).

The reason this happens is that the file system is not interpreting those as numbers but as words, and is alphabetizing them. It doesn't know how to sort by numbers at all.

Alphabetically, "10" through "19" come before "2". That's why you should make sure that all the track numbers are the same number of letters long (it doesn't think of them as "digits") by using leading zeros.

0 comes before 1 in the alphabet, so "02" would come before "10" - solving the problem.
