Best place to sell RTI componets after upgrading?

If asking violates forum rules please let me know. Or if I need to upgrade to another type of membership I don't mind doing that either.

Anyway, I recently moved to more powerful system processors and my RTI custom installer suggested I ask here. Just trying to figure out if a place like this forum or eBay, or someplace else is best for selling these types of items.

Thanks in advance for any directions that y'all can offer!

EBay, craigslist, remotecentral.com, AVS, amazon marketplace

Your installer can usually take it off your hands for cheap, and resell it.

Next time, you may just give it to him, based on your experience selling it.

Thanks for the info.

Not sure I follow what you mean though by "just give it to him". I'm not just going to give my installer a couple expensive processors for free.

you can use the AVS Marketplace or Remote Central has an RTI Forum

Mark, I checked out the marketplace and it says there is a small fee for non members or free for club members. Can you point me to where one becomes a club member versus a standard member?

Those devices are no longer expensive - several years old, and used. They are likely 'old technology,' and a pro installer, in good conscience, would not install them. And since RTI is not typically a DIY system, the market for this old tech is limited.

Search for RTI on eBay, and check the 'completed listings' box in the left hand column.

Green prices were sold, red unsold.

Neuro....these are not old processors. They are the new ZRP-6 processors.

Tough subject!!

If the OP paid retail for the products he's going to need an amount that's not reasonable to a CI. Lets say the OP would settle for 1/2 of what he paid for the product. What if that 1/2 is still more than what a CI would pay for new, he's got a problem. As the end user doesn't have access to the programming software, the OP doesn't really have a huge selection of purchasers. Given this situation expecting anything more than 25% to 35% of original purchase price is very unrealistic because there is less profit then selling new.

Personally, I would install the stuff elsewhere in my house...and, in point of fact, that is what I did as the house is now Crestron controlled except for the kids basement "mini - theatre" which is on a stand-alone RTI system as I did not want the kids having the use of a Crestron TPMC because i) cost [i.e. read spilled juice, etc.] and ii) whole house control...this has actually worked out very well...

This is exactly what I was afraid of. Having a product that only a CI (for the most part) can install, etc..

Looks like they will just go into a box in storage and maybe have use one day. If not, recycle city here we come.

Sounds like a good idea. Thanks.
