I just bought the Panasonic TC-P55ST30, when changing channels at random, the picture would go to snow.
What I did to try to solve the problem.
Tried 3 different Directv boxes same problem.
Changed HDMI cables same problem. Even bought high speed 1.4 HDMI.
Changed HDMI input to input 2 and 3, same problem.
Kept the box in one non native format, same problem.
De activated Viera link, same problem.
Switched AC wall outlet, took it off surge protector, plugged it in different outlet, same problem.
Finally, best buy exchanged the TV, repeated the above, same problem. Here is what worked that stopped it, one is switched to component cables but I seen a loss of pictue quality.
Also this weird combination in the HDMI cable setting, deactivated Viera link and kept the box in one format either 720p or 1080i. When I put the box in native, after channel 565, if it switched to a 480p SD format, it would turn to snow. Kept Viera link off, put Directv box out of native and chose either 1080i or 720p, NO SNOW when changing. Back to native again, after channel 565 when it went to 480P, snow, and nothing got rid of the snow screen until I turned the TV off and back on again.
It also turned to snow when I had CNN on and MANUALLY went from 720p to 480p using the format button on the Directv remote.
Also this has happened mostly going from the weather channel that downloads a lot of local weather info.
WTF??????????????? deactivating Viera link and kept the box in one format either 720p or 1080i is the only thing that prevented this problem. From what I understand Sumsung had a similar problem, called HANDSHAKING between box and TV in HDMI. Also some of my transponders are low, could this have something to with it, but none of my other sets have done this. Can anyone offer any insight, should I return the TV and get another S2? I have the S2 in the other room, I may get a black screen where it says searching for signal but never snow.
