I need suggestion for a calibration mic. I have never used one, so I don't have a clue which one to get. I need to stay under $100.

Thanks

If they are all that expensive, I will just get a Radioshack SPL meter, and call it good.

I am afraid so if you want accuracy.

I just ordered my speakers and sub, so I don't think I can afford another $300 right now. I know they are not the most accurate but for the time being I may just have to stick with the Radioshack SPL meter. Thanks for the help though.

This would also be my suggestion, but don't forget with that mic the OP would also need to buy a USB soundcard with phantom power and cables.

Cheapest I have seen is a Behringer 8000 plus m-audio or Art preamp; about $100 for the pair.

The RS meter works pretty well when calibrated but if you are looking at the meter be aware it has only A and C weighting. A is essentially vocal band, and C rolls off below 30 Hz. Neither is a good choice for measuring a subwoofer.

Yeah, that wouldn't work then. I was only wanting one for my sub.

Look at the sticky thread above about SPL Meter Correction Tables for the correction factors to apply. Not terribly accurate but may put you in the ballpark. You want accurate, get the mic and preamp and load REW. $100 is a pretty small investment relative to everything else.
