hi.
I need some advice asap. I need to return a TV because I notice a defect. The seller says I can return the defective TV but he can only give me a similar unit or pay extra to get a more expensive one. Now ive got a few question that need answering:
Which of these 2 TV consume less power?

Panasonic 42ut30 on there website has a Rated Power Consumption 270 watts, but take a look at the annual energy consumed its much lower around 177.

The Panasonic TH-L42U30 on the other hand has Rated Power Consumption 190 but for its Annual Energy Consumption of only 196.
I used the specifications for the TX-L42U3 which is almost the same as 42U30.

Strangely The plasma consumes less than the LCD i find that hard to believe. Can you trust the information from the Panasonic website?
Does the specifications mean that the plasma even consumes less energy than the lcd?

I'm not sure why you're so hung up on the power consumption on an expensive product like an HDTV.

The difference in consumption will literally be a couple of dollars per month, max.

If you're just trying to be more "green" then I'm not sure what to tell you - I'll let one of the other board members chime in.
