Too bad since I think passive will eventually win out. Much simpler and less costly.
It's the reason why I'm looking at getting and LG LED TV. Plasma looks better, but I have 3 kids and they have friends and getting 10 pairs of 3D glasses for a plasma is rediculously expensive. LG's comes with 4 pairs and you can get extra ones for under $20 each.
I think you're on the right track.
I'm not knocking plasmas -- I've had one for awhile now. And I've seen Panasonic's 3-D demos, which are okay. But we just got a 55" LG LED 3-D rig for my mom. I gotta say, I'm a believer -- it's a knockout 3-D experience. The active shutter stuff on the plasmas and some of the movie theaters are just so ... pallid ... compared to the pop you get through the passive glasses from the LG. That "pop" is so cool, you don't even mind the faint scan line traces.
And, you know what? The black levels are decent too (actually, they're great with the glasses on, even though that's cheating). Off-axis isn't too bad either.
