Ha! Yeah, I've fallen down a few times already. Good thing is most of the underbrush has been cleared out, so I can see the tripwires more clearly now!

Gear mentioned in this thread:

A rare Saturday update. Finished wrapping the column inserts with speaker cloth. Very happy with how they turned out. Having those done makes the room feel much closer to being complete. Had to crank up the brightness on the pics so you can see the contrast on the columns.

With the flash on, you can see the speakers behind them. You can't see them in the room. One of these days I have to learn how to take good pics with this camera.

Hope to start building some of the frames tomorrow!

Thanks cdika17! Feel free to steal away, as I've stolen most of my "ideas" already!

I was able to get 6 of the 10 frames wrapped this weekend, and hope to get the other 4 done in the next two evenings. Then get the linacoustic in and hang them yet this week before a little weekend vaca.

Here's one of two frame wrapping stations. The other is outside the theater on the ping pong table for the two larger frames.
Ready to staple...

Stapled...

Feel like I'm using waaaayyy too many staples, but tension is good and corners/edges look nice to me.

I held each one up on it's respective spot on the wall to get a better feel for what it will look like. Extremely happy with where this is going. I also plan to trim around them after they are up. For now, they are leaning against the wall waiting patiently.

Need to get carpet ordered this week too...

Took your advice and haven't done anything for a couple days, but I think you'll still beat me. It's amazing how time flies...

OK, so that was more than a couple days off...Here's the latest update.

Finally more progress on the wall panels. Added Linacoustic, and a couple straps of scrap fabric to prevent sagging.

First one attached to the wall with a few dabs of liquid nails and some finish nails shot through the frame.

After the first one, they went a bit quicker and easier. Each one has 1" of Linacoustic. The one on the back wall has a layer of craft paper first, then Linacoustic to reflect some of the higher frequencies. Here is a circular tour of the walls starting at the front left...

Will need to do some touch up on the paint, as it scuffed up pretty easy in some spots while I was positioning the frames. Nothing major though.

You may also notice that the furniture is no longer in the room. That is because the carpet will be installed starting at 8:00AM tomorrow morning!!! Finally, I won't have to look at the bare concrete and OSB anymore! Gave everything a thorough vacuuming tonight, so all is ready for them in the AM. More pics will be coming as the carpet goes in!

Wow, so close you can almost taste it!

Nice.
Have you named the theatre yet? I suggest The Black Hole.

What carpet you going with?

235, so close yet so far away. Still have a decent "to do" list after the carpet...

lespurgeon, Haven't come up with a good name yet. Black Hole is certainly appropriate. Had to play with the brightness and contrast of the pics to really see the panels...

cdika, Went with a pretty basic carpet. Black (of course) with a little hint of dark grey. Should look pretty good. Will post some pics in a few hours...

You are getting very close. Can't wait to see your carpet pics.

Thanks guys! Here's a quick update. Carpet guys showed up at 8:15. Here's how things looked as of 10:00 (their first break...).

And a closeup of the carpet itself.

Difficult to capture the actual color, but you get the idea cool.gif

New carpet smell...very satisfying...biggrin.gif
post #467 of 534
That's awesome! I got that tingly feeling just looking at your pictures smile.gif

It has to be a great feeling seeing the carpet go down. Next to drywall, I bet that's one of the biggest visual changes your room will go through.

Thanks J_P_A. Agreed that it is a major visual change now that it's done. Feels good too. Had to go roll around on it for a while like a dog tongue.gif

Anyway, pics will be coming later this evening. Gotta run out and do kid stuff for a few hours.

Aaaaand CARPET!

Need to paint the step light plates and register covers for the riser black. Have some touching up to do to the walls too from the panel and carpet installation, nothing major though. Overall extremely happy with how the room is turning out.

Hope to get the panels for the screen wall started this weekend. Also, the GOM FR701 Sunshine fabric for the light tray was delivered this week, so add that to the list as well.

You sure that's dark enough? biggrin.gif

Looks great!
Is it safe to assume the carpet appears even darker to the eye than to the camera?

Oh it's definitely dark enough...rolleyes.gif

It is darker in person. I actually had to play with the brightness and contrast levels of the pics again to be able to see some detail. Watched a little TV in there last night. Can't really notice any reflection from the screen anywhere...

Perfect, that was the answer I was hoping for. icon_biggrin.gif

Looks great. It's a good feeling to get the carpet installed!

Thanks Brian. A good feeling indeed. Now I just need to keep chipping away at the "to do" list.
Looks great. But c'mon, only 6 pics?? You're either not as excited as I was or you're simply better at showing restraint. I was crawling around on the floor taking closeups and probably posted 20 pictures in my thread. A big milestone indeed.

I'm assuming the brown seats are place holders until you can find some new ones in.......black? smile.gif
