The SB pair are likely to sound better overall, but the single Ultra would dominate in the deep bass department.

+1. But I would think the ultra sounds good as well.

Id say go for 2 pluses...even though the ultra would be nice...buy one ultra and save for another?

For the price of 2 SB13 pluses, you could get into a Submersive HP.

The thing is,,I have a sb13 plus about a month old now..I love the small size but i want more...I had lots of ported subs over the years, sealed sound really nice but seem to be missing something...
Help me out guys..

PS..I have the exchange option with SVS..

Size matters. It's time to go large. Exchange for a PB12-Plus or a PB13.

This is right on unless your content will be very heavily weighted towards music. If so get another SB, but if you want a powerful HT presentation then get the Ultra 13, sit back and enjoy.

Ultra 13 then you will have no regrets they fill a room nicely and sound good with music.

I feel for you. i have the sb13 as well and I love it. IF I move my stuff to the basement I may upgrade to the ultra, for my livingroom the sb13 is perfect. two sb13's are tempting even in the basement. the ultra is HUGE!!!! and I mean HUGE!!!!

BUT that damn 13 ultra is driving me crazy..lol

if you can swing for two PB12-Plus. It doesn't lose much to the Ultra.
And the cost would be closer to the SB13's. You would get the best of both worlds.

if you want the PB12+ to be sealed for music, it would perform slightly below the SB13's.
If you unseal them, you will get close to dual PB13 performance.

Perfect mix, IMO.

If you have the budget for an Ultra you should spend a bit more and get a Submersive. The difference is not small. I don't want to sound like a fan boy, but I am.

I had two PB13s and just added a SB13. The difference is staggering. In my large room, it's a totally different kind of bass that really fills a hole I felt I had with the PBs. I have mine at -20 (no time for audyssey yet) and during the one test I did with a scene from IronMan 2, it knocked the magnetic screen off my center channel (at reference). I do feel like I have a localization issue but I'm not goin to worry about that until after audyssey. My advice would depend on how much you love low frequency response. If you want really low, you'll want the PB. Otherwise I'd go for two SBs just for the size/convenience.

BTW, I'm talking about Ultras here. I just saw you said plus. frown.gif

Curious, you said you had 2 PB13-Ultra's and just added an SB13U, does that mean you are no longer running the two PB's, or are you running all three right now?

I'm running all three. And I'm looking around for a place where another SB might fit. wink.gif

The PBs are 1/3 in on the wall to the left and right (respectively) of my mains. The SB is to the immediate right of my right side speaker against a 1/2 wall separating the upstairs from a stairwell. I'm running 11.2 from a Denon 4311 with the 2 PBs on one sub channel and the SB on the other. .

easy answer between 1 pb and 2 sb. 2 sb will have more output above and below tuning with much more flexability. and at pb tuning there arn't much difference either. i dont how it so hard to decide.
