Energy CF-70 vs Polk RTI A7

So i am looking to get the whole setup for each one these sets.

I would have CF-70 Fronts, CR-10 Surrounds, and CC-10 Centers in a 7.1 configuration

OR

I can get the RTI A7 fronts, FXi A6 surrounds, and CSiA6 Center in a 7.1

They will be around the exact same price no matter what, with the Energy being about $200 less ($800 total)

I don't want suggestions on other speakers like the Jamos, as I dont get as good of a discount compared to these setups.

The receiver will more than likely be the Yamaha a810

I will be doing mainly HT/Gaming 90% of the time, music 10%. The room is roughly 18x12 going out to the dining room which is another 12x8

Thanks!

Polk (even if I didn't care for them because I cared even less for the CF line)

I would rather have the Polk's.

That's what I keep hearing about the Energy line, but haven't had a chance to listen to them yet because of the local store speaker room being down. Hopefully I can at least listen to the cf-50's before I make my decision.

Is it just because the CF line is too bright and harsh sounding?

The Energy CF70s are on sale today on vanns.com for $229 each. I think the CF70s are a good choice for the money, but I have not heard either of these speakers.

I'm more worried about the dislike of the CF series, than the low price of them as I still get a better deal than the Vanns sale. AWESOME deal though!

I use to have he Cf-70 / CC-10 / CB-10 combo and they are nice speakers for HT and gaming. They were a little to bright and harsh for music for my taste. I think they would be a good system for the price you are talking about. I haven't compared them to the Polks, but you can audition them in the Best Buy Magnolia store. When I listened to them in the store they compared to the B&Ws that were also there, although the B&Ws had a slight edge, they also had a higher price tag.

I've had the CF-70s too. Like Saints I chose to switch to the Energy RC series because I LOVE music. But if you like action movies and/or video games, the CF-70 towers are nice. If I had the money to keep them I might have kept them. I didn't care for any of the other towers (had the CF-30s too, and have a friend who showed me his CF-50 towers). I think the CF-70 is the best speaker in that series by far; it sounds slightly different than the others.
