PLEASE help, 55GT50 or 55VT50

If you want the absolute BEST, you may have a better chance with the VT. No one can say for sure yet if it's worth the premium. Off the top of my head I believe they both have THX night/day/2D/3D.

Only the VT has the faster phosphors (I think, could be wrong), Infinite Black Ultra panel (GT has Pro), and 96Hz for 1080/24p.

Isn't there an obvious answer the vt is the better model....

If money is no object the 65VT50 is without a doubt the better set. It would have to be or Panny would have an occupy movement at HQ!

THX Certification means absolutely nothing. IMO, your choice should be ST50 vs VT50.

I agree about the THX Certification being next to worthless. But why rule out the GT vs the VT and consider the ST instead?

If you don't want to get it professionally calibrated then you do NOT want the BEST pic. If you wanted the Best picture, you'd buy the best model (VT50) AND get it ISF Calibrated to bring out the best in it. Only that would give you the best picture (among the Panasonics at least).



Well the GT50 isn't available yet either so you'll have to wait no matter what.



Money no object? Then why not get the VT50 and an ISF Calibration? And with the VT50 you can have it Calibrated for Day and Night (don't think that's possible on the GT50).

Agreed and this thread clearly just to stir up some nonsense. If money was no object you wouldn't be here if you knew how to enjoy life. And you probably would have picked up a pro70x5 calibrated it and forgot it existed... Because you would be in a foreign country or out driving a ferrari.. Or building a home theater that didn't require a tv instead a projector... And the list goes on....

Say money is an object and VT is out of the question, would you consider the GT50 over the ST50 or just go w/ the ST?

That would depend on if an individual wanted or needed the GT50's extra features and different bezel design, and was willing to pay extra for it. Some would, some would not.

Why is THX Certification worthless? Isn't the Greyscale calibrated with THX?
I am thinking about buying a 50GT50 rather than the ST version for just this enhancement

Um, the VT will have better picture quality than the GT. So if you want the better picture quality, get the VT. Pretty simple. Only reviews will tell how big that picture quality difference will be though.

Any more thoughts on this subject of VT vs GT now that they have been out for awhile? I am debating on going with a 60GT or the 55VT. Unfortunately I can't fit the 65inch model so if I want a 60inch model I have to get the GT but, I really like the VT series. Any advice???

Tomorrow they are picking up my 55VT50 because I miss the 60GT50 (had the GT50 first). IMO, the VT50 is not worth the price difference when size is equal. If you haven't had a 60" you may not miss the 5" but the awesome (literally) images of the GT on a 60" screen brought even more to the experience than the VT could. This year's VT is just a tad better than it's siblings. It is darker but it doesn't seem brighter or even as bright to me. I have a bright room and brightness is important to me. I believe the VT needs to be calibrated to get the best shadow detail, I don't feel that way about the GT. The VT does a slightly better job at filtering reflections and calibrated settings in Custom are better than THX Cinema too. I've may have said more than this in my posts on both the VT & GT threads when others have asked the same question.
